having said that, the Canadian police are getting naughty too... that pic is a few days old...
A lot of the Canadian crew remember all to well the vicious clampdown during the Winter Olympics... and prior....

Begging the question again, I see. Seriously though, do you have an obsessive-compulsive disorder?

Critical thought isn't a strong suit for you nino...and some others around here too who don't 'add anything'. To agree with Beck on a single point isn't agreeing with his whole set of politics. Yet that's how you see it.

Meanwhile, Bank of America report third quarter gains of $6.2 billion. Next month they will start charging customers $5 per month for use of debit cards. BoA CEO said the bank "has a right to make a profit".

I don't mind if they make a profit. It's making a profit by lying and screwing people that I have an issue with.

I should add that the "profit" they made was mostly from the sale of their interest in a Chinese bank. I suspect they may have cut their long-term profit so they could show a short-term profit to their shareholders. Their stock price has seriously tanked. I think they're selling for around $6 a share last time I checked.

You're not up to speed on capitalism are you?

I admit that I'm naive enough to think its possible to pay an honest wage, make a reliable and useful product, sell it at an honest price, and make an honest profit. It's little "c" capitalism, rather than big "C" Capitalism.

Most of what the banks do doesn't fall under that definition.

It is possible to pay an honest wage, its just that under capitalism that is very often a losing strategy. The dynamic is always away from this.

I suppose for an avowed socialist/marxist/wotever it doesn't matter - as long as surplus value is extracted by owners of the MOP there is exploitation going on. Unless the owners of the MOP are the labourers of course.

There's a difference between "Big C" Capitalism - the economic system, and "Small C" capitalism - the act of running a small business.

This is exactly it. A free market, like a street market selling vegetables and household goods is very different from middle-men in the Asset backed securities trade. One is transparent and efficient. The other is a continuous attempt to rig the market, based on massive differences in socially aquired information.

What about the concept of intellectual property for an avowed socialist/marxist? What is the Marxist theory on the degree of labour value provided by management.

Thank you. That was the point I was making. :)

I'd call it "fair trade" though. "Free trade" has come to mean an entirely different thing.
