CNN has now said it has confirmed that the suspect in the “mass casualty event” is dead. There will be another press conference held by the authorities in New Orleans at 11am ET.

Appalling. A stomach churning start to the new year.

Having just watched the press conference, I have to agree, the official response is pathetic.

- The police and mayor have said it’s a terrorist attach, but the FBI at the same brief contradicted them and say it is not.

- There were 300 police on duty and a protective ‘cage’ around the area but the killer ‘drove around’ it apparently. How?

- the killer is dead - according to leaks from the police - but we only know this because of the leak and not any official report.

There's probably some dollars involved here though. Would the discrepancy between what the Mayor said and the FBI said on it being a terror attack possibly be involved with insurance?
