Netflix recommendations

I'm watching now. I thought it was was going to be terrible after the utter shit set up in present day. Gets quite fun when he goes back to Edo Edo.

Yeah the modern day bit really dragged and the first episode was fucking long winded as hell but it finally got going when the time jump happened.

I do really recommend the Manga if you are into that sort of thing

Nah, my comic book days are mostly over. I look at a few oldies now and then but that's it.

My wife is stoked I suggested it. She wanted to watch it but thought we would all find it boring. It is quite similar to some of the Korean dramas we watched as a family many moons ago (like the body swap/time jump Mr Queen).

Just started watching Missing You, the latest Harlan Coben adaptation.

5 minutes in I am wondering what I am doing with my life, totally unbelievable right from the off.

I watched the first episode of American Primeval, a new and desperately bleak western series. It makes Deadwood look cheerful. It wasn't an easy watch. It's a limited series so I'll watch all six episodes knowing it is unlikely to be comfortable viewing at any point. There's a lot of talent on display, trudging through mud, suffering and/or engaging in brutal violence.

Thanks for the review, I considered that earlier when I saw it on Netflix, given your post I am glad I didn't, I think I'll give it a swerve as it doesn't sound like it's for me :D

I'll give this a watch when I'm in the mood for something bleak.

I like Westerns but Jeez, things feel bleak enough already without adding to the misery.

Started the three-parter about Jerry Springer last night. It's just got to the bit where it starts to get really cruel.

Well-made and compelling so far. Makes you question your own motives for laughing at carcrash TV, particularly the unrepentant director.

I'd forgotten about the "I Married A Horse" episode.

Sounds excellent :D

Watched Vengeance.
Decent enough indie style flick. Slightly different. Interesting look / take on deep texas folk. Slightly unsatisfying end for me, seemed tottally over the top and out of character in several ways. A bit like an imagined wish fulfilment end for the protagonist. I would have quite liked this to have just turned out to be a daydream of the slimy city podcaster. . .but I hate those.
Worth a watch. Leaving netfix soon.
