Watching The Pale Blue Eye.
Not bad.. E.A.P. as one of the main characters makes it more interesting
I thought it was pretty good. Bit slow the only criticism, but didn’t spoil it for me. Good production values, better cinematography, and Bale’s and in particular Harry Melling’s performances are worth it alone. The latter in particular really does make the film- one actor to keep tabs on :)

Pretty much my summary and rating too. I really like Adam Driver playing weird characters in weird films, so I got satisfaction from it. Pretty much like The Dead Don’t Die.
I've never seen something with Adam Driver in it that I liked. I've nothing against Driver - he seems a decent enough actor - he just chooses roles in things I don't like pretty consistently.

Yes..I liked it.
It warmed up a lot 😉

been watching stranger, a korean drama with a gutsy female detective (according to the description) and a lobotomised prosecutor. very good, i've been really enjoying it - 2 series, episodes about an hour or just over each.

Harry Melling has been in some good stuff, he's come a long way since his Dudley Dursley days.

I'm trying to watch this atm, in theory I should love it cos it's right up my street, but I am just struggling to concentrate on a lot of film/TV atm, I think Covid has done something to my ability to do so tbh!
Plus I've got a bit of a headache right now.
I'll give it another go tomorrow, it looks like something I should try again with!

Just watched the first three episodes of Hip Hop Evolution which is very good, my only minor complaint is that I'd have liked more than the couple minutes coverage some of the artists got.
Working my way through all four seasons of this, very good indeed. I've learned loads.

White Noise sucks.

I stuck with it. It went off in some weird directions but stuck with the whole theme of death.
I'd give it 5.5/ 10

Just for the record: I just watched it and I thought it was really pretty good. I’m not the only one who liked it either, judging from its generally favourable reviews.

Not surprised lots of people wouldn’t like it, though. It is a… strong flavour. You have to really buy into its heavily allegorical nature.

Also, it’s totally worth it for the line, “families are the cradle of misinformation”

I know I’ve watched the first two seasons of Titans but can’t remember much of them. They weren’t terrible, but still pretty mundane.

Season 3, just out on Netflix, has been markedly better. Only a third of the way in, but so far much more grown up, darker, grittier and gripping. Even brutal in a couple of places, for a superhero genre series at least.

Anyway, recommended to anyone interested in the DC universe

Does this get better after the first season?

Showed lots of promise, but the first season ended on a low with a hammy baddie.

'Man of Action', 2022 Spanish film that says it is loosely based on real events. Set in the '60s and '70s it is the story of Lucio Urtubia, a young Spaniard who flees Franco's Spain to avoid military service. After arriving in France he meets exiled Spanish anarchists and soon realises he is anarchist himself. Expropriation of banks then follows.

It was quite good, I enjoyed it.

Something has broken with this model. It’s now created a system where creators should be afraid to make a series that dares to end on a cliffhanger or save anything for future seasons, lest their story forever be left unfinished.
that wouldn't be a bad thing if people produced their shows with a beginning, a middle and an end within the constraints of what's been commissioned.
if Netflix have only contracted you for one season, make something complete that is one season long. don't make something half complete that ends at an arbitrary point in the middle. then if you do get a second season from them, that can be a second story.
maybe one day you'll get contracted from HBO upfront to do five seasons of something and you can indulge yourself then.

Bank of Dave is brilliant, loved it. Rory Kinnear plays Dave, although there's a Hollywood-ish side story romance between two other characters. Here's the blurb:

'Based on the true-life experiences of Dave Fishwick. Telling the story of how a working class Burnley man and self-made millionaire fought to set up a community bank.'

Hot dang I read that as "Book of Dave" and got all excited about a Will Self TV adaptation starring Rory Kinnear :(

Last night I binged watched Love on the Spectrum USA. The people really are endearing and plenty of clips of their heartwarming pets for added warmth.

Smashed through Playlist this week, some odd production, in a good way. I liked the offices of all the companies being down the same corridor. Took me about 3 episodes to realise, lol. Daniel Ek is a bit of cunt, (not a spoiler).
