I think this is the most desolate-sounding one musically of theirs. Not exactly the Vengaboys, lyrically, either tbf. "New Dawn Fades" is the bleakest lyrically though. You probably all know the lyric I'm thinking of.

On my mind atm as watched Peter Hook play a lot of this stuff last night. With the beautiful but deeply sad Cure album just out I've been pondering the paradox of how comforting melancholic music is lately.

Stephen O'Malley definitely has a history of swimming in the same waters as a lot of wrong uns yes. Stopped short of outright self declared fash though.
