More Anarchist States: Manchurian Commune 1929-31

Never heard of this one either. Yet another Anarchist state largely forgotten by history. This one set up by Koreans in the wake of the Japanese invasion of Manchuria.

There were quite a few such Anarchist states in the early C20th--Magonista Baja California, Makhnovshchina Ukraine, Strandzha Commune in Bulgaria, Volkstaat Bayern, and of course Catalonia. Probably some others too. We could even talk of a worldwide Anarchist Revolution that was crushed, in large part, by Communists. But no-one does talk of such a thing, presumably because history is written by the winners. Perhaps it is time to begin:

Lot of interesting anarchist and adjacent stuff in East Asia in the early 20th century. There was a solidly socialist regime in Fujian for a while headed up by a man who'd run with the anarchists in his youth but shifted to a more statist approach. Kept a lot of the principles all the same.
