Can anyone explain to me why this was so popular. It still bugs me.

...my parents always played this one in the car when I was a kid. Musically it's a fucking brilliant bit of 80's glam rock. Lyrically not great at all.
 
Turning Japanese. Not so much because it's about wanking over a picture of a lust object, but because of the dodgy racist lyrical and musical references. Still a cracking bit of pop though, which makes it even more problematic.

I know, and I love the song but it's hard to listen to now. I think someone on here said the Chislehurst takeaway that inspired it only closed 10 years back or so.

Yeah, it's always a wrench when looking back over dodgy moments in much loved/respected artists careers.

Still listen to Siouxsie, despite the hiccup.
