Mixes

Yeah, this my next step - I'm moving slowly into the digital realm. Only about 20 years too late 😆
There are various browser add-ons you can use to acquire SC mixes offline. Still haven’t found one you can use directly on a phone though. It’s mad that there isn’t.

I recorded this fairly laid back/jazzy drum & bass mix the other day, and was quite pleased with how it came out.

  1. Lurch - Someday
  2. Tokyo Prose - Lights Down Low ft. Sati
  3. Muffler - Can You Feel (2020 Mix)
  4. Furney - Much of a Deepness
  5. Utah Jazz - Mile High Club (Instrumental)
  6. Electrosoul System - Love Is Illusion
  7. Mark Rae - Free Rolling (Marcus Intalex Remix)
  8. Skalpel - Why Not Jungle
  9. Nu:Logic - Nova
  10. Makoto - YGMYC
  11. Gardna - Good Time Not a Long Time (Watch The Ride Remix)
  12. Swindle - Elevator ft. TC
  13. Safire & DRS - Holding On

Went through a patch where I was listening to the Safire/DRS - Holding On on repeat and was ambushed at the end of this mix. Absolutely lovely.

Bit late to discover this fella, but he's really interesting. Chinese (maybe Malay), who has lived in Chicago and some other places and makes mental voodoo-techno.

There's a couple of mentions of his tunes on the New Techno thread, but otherwise not much chatter. This Dekmantel mix is excellent, and I don't have the words to describe it, so I'll just copy and paste their blurb:
It is a brash mix of industrial textures, harsh broken techno and subversive pop, trap and rap that is all blurred into one borderless offering that mirrors his own personal intersections.
Not sure that's exactly how I'd describe it..
Over the course of seventy minutes he jumps around restlessly, but somehow his sounds remain united by shiny metallic surfaces whether he’s mixing in Asian pop, whirring computer sounds in meltdown or horror-core. To us, it sounds like a futuristic soundtrack to some hyper urban metropolis that’s on the brink of collapse, and it’s genuinely compelling.
OK, that sounds more like it.

New mix time! For the fourth mix in 2024's There & Back series, I've gone back to one of my favorite musical eras, the techstep drum n' bass years of the mid to late 90's, to put together this fine selection of b-sides, remixes, and album tracks. Lots of quality tunes in here!

The Boiler Room sets can often be exercises in instagram knob twiddling, but this 5 (five!) hour set from Floating Points is just fantastic. All vinyl (AFAICT) and a proper musical journey through really diverse genres.

I've done an eclectic mix of bass music over time, covering everything from funky West Coast acid breaks to modern electro to dark UK Garage to slowed down jungle techno to hybrid bass styles. I'm really proud of this one, because it chops up a whole bunch of 130-140 bpm bass music styles in one mix, in a fun and (hopefully!) cohesive way.
