I don't know that area so can't add much to what Dogsauce already said. Test trains might be your best bet, but they often tend to run at night and also are fairly notorious for not sticking to their schedule, so there's a high risk of not seeing anything if you try and catch them at a specific time and place.West Midlands. Day. Weekends (no chance I know) or days when I can use my lunch break. Water Orton is not far away and a freight hot spot but would rather go having a clue rather than hope for the best approach.
If they took a zero out, I'd still think they were taking the fucking piss...HOW MUCH?!!!!

BBC documentary from 1969 about the railways and railwaymen on lines running out of Sheffield; looking back to the age of steam and forward to managed decline.
I didn't realise they're retiring the bus offering. That's going to piss off those flying on a tight budget. With Ryanair sometimes offering £5 fares, imagine paying the same for a 1-mile rail transfer than for an overseas flightThe most expensive train journey ever?

There’s a working tomorrow that’s passing through the midlands:Ok proper nerdy question, is there any easy way to find out what routes/times a class 37 is on, on the mainline. RTT doesn't seem to give loco numbers for most freight or STP services?
They’ve done this before I’m sure. Maybe just in summer. I’ve been meaning to do it for a while. I’m not a trains enthusiast. There’s meant to be some great pubs along the route.Good news for those of us who might want to visit heritage railways by public transport; hope this trial is successful. I've never travelled on the Swanage line because it's not been connected to the mainline but this will make it much easier to get there.
Trial train service from Wareham mainline into the heart of the Isle of Purbeck
Swanage Railway will operate the trial service using a heritage diesel train and is sharing a message to leave the car at home and travel by train!www.railadvent.co.uk

It‘s a class 37 hauling 11 TTA tanker wagons from storage in Yorkshire down to the Dean Forest railway for preservation, so a nice combination of vintage loco on vintage wagons. If my car wasn’t playing up I’d consider nipping over the bridge to see it arrive.
It’s booked for 37418 which is in the BR large logo livery.
RTT failed to update and it went from behind just a few minutes ahead of schedule to about 18 in a few spots, so it went flying past as I was sat in the car.
I had!!! Clearly a blip in the matrix!Keeping an eye on the maps on Traksy can be a good way of avoiding this.
Lovely pub that - wouldn't fancy the walk from Corfe Castle - that is a hell of a hillYes, it's been a long-term aspiration and they've run trials in the past. The traction and rolling stock were a lot better those previous times, but they had to be hired in at cost:

Square and Compass at the top of the steep hill from Corfe Castle is definitely worth a visit, although it's a bit of a slog. The no. 40 bus stops right outside, though.
Have a look here a bit closer to the time. The flying Scotsman is doing a trip from Bristol to Cornwall on the 30th in 2 weeks time.
Any idea how I get an approximate time for the pass through Teignmouth?
