Mick Lynch's time is up

I'm quite fond of his appearances on TV. For some reason the media lapdogs love to try and go for him, but he just ends up making them look like huge fannies in the process. The country needs more people like him.

As the proud owner of a cowboy hat (good for keeping the sun off, btw), I don't feel the need to comment on his choices of headgear.

I don't actually think his time is going to be up for a long while.

I get a massive buzz off Big Mick Lynch high energy.

So I thought he deserves a post on here.

Definitely deserves his own thread. Nice one Stevie.

Every time I hear him I like him more.
Straightforward presentation of complex ideas is a real skill and he does it unbelievably well. Down to earth. Working class. Bullshit free. Proper trade unionist: member focussed. Sticks it to posh Tories and schools them. Working class men like him doing that really gets under their skin.

I would say ‘hats off’ to him but that fucking hat though…:hmm:

This should be required reading.

Lynch “Working people, who may not even call themselves working class, have got to find a way to organise. The unions have got to go back to basics and show workers how to do it, show them that it’s no good just being upset or pissed off. You’ve got to say, ‘I’m going to turn that into an organisation with a set of demands and a way to fight for them and get to the table.’ Because most people don’t know how to get a pay rise in this country. They’re not in a company where they can say, ‘We are at the table with you as equals.’ Because there’s no union, there’s no table, and there’s no forum.”

“unions have got to go where the people are. We’ve got to go into working-class communities”

Interviewed for the Guardian. Cogent, as ever:

It’s funny how some people in the public eye can’t resist speaking outside the scope of their professional role and areas of expertise:

Why though? Should we seek his considered views on Israel, Love Island and the Mar-a-Lago raid too?
He’s the sort of bloke I’d listen to on just about anything tbh . He puts his points across in a calm and thoughtful manner that you can engage with imo .
I don’t have to agree with everything he says and neither do you however the idea that somehow he’s left his designated lane because he’s not speaking about railways ( which if you’ve followed his activity will come as no surprise ) is patronising nonsense . Funnily enough his trade Union RMT have a policy on Ukraine and on other issues as well . Nobody played the ‘shut up Mick ‘ card when he said he was a Connolly supporter or when he talks about the need to build a working class movement .

Dunno if you have read the interview itself but if you have the terrain is ground that has been argued on here as well .

I suppose it is revealing about his political currents, his China whataboutery in that article is quite something: Salam Hussein and slaves in Leicester.
