I've just posted up some photos from the damp day of limited fun from the Mayday 2001 "Cordon years."

Anyone go to this?

yeah, think this was the one I was trapped in oxford circus, but those protests have kind of blended into one. nice pictures, if I've got the right year, I was on the inside of the notorious police cordon you've got in one of those pics.

Yeah, if it's the one that BigTom mentions I was stuck in the kettle on the other side of that cordon, too.

I was on the outside, and eventually did a live BBC News broadcast from the top of the nearby BBC building, managing to keep some vile Tory wasp-faced bigot off air by keeping on talking over her time slot.

Which was nice.

I were there. Think I was talking to you on the phone, Ed - I was with one of the guys who did Guilfin who was saying that there wasn't any violence as we watched a load of punks self-destructing. :D

Yeah i popped down to have a look after work at around 5 pm..Got trapped in the
mass arrest and didn't get home 'till after 10 pm.

I ended up in stuck in Holles street.

This guy on the ground is getting full-on arrested for the most wanton and outrageous act of dislodging a policeman's helmet.

Well after 2000 Parliament Sq it had nowhere to go but downhill.
I was rushing about on a mobile keeping my son updated and he was bunging the info on his mayday2001 website, but it was wet and the Oxford circus thing was stupid, hey let's kettle ourselves.
I thought it was pathetic, I was in Regent Street and when I looked behind me I could see a line of police slowly walking up the road, if you were a tourist or office worker you just filtered through. So I was and I did.
Earlier I had told a tory pub mate that Ken was stopping the feeding of pigeons in Trafalgar Square, he went down with bird food and got trapped in Oxford Circus for 6 hours. That was the highlight of my day really in hindsight. :D

i was trapped in holles street in the pissing rain for an enternity - finally got let out then got kettled again on tottenham court road.

If this is the year of the action around John Lewis I was there, I went to so many then my memory of it all isn't so good. I remember the Oxford Circus kettle though, & I remember being sat in a pub close by watching the action/kettle on TV. That was the year 'Juliet Bravo' got caught up in it wasn't it...
