One of the positive things to come out of this is that, at least in my Facebook and other social media accounts, the number of people I know who I haven't really ever seen show any political or social bias but who have reacted to this.
Just showing what an absolute tosser he is and also how many women are effected by this sort of thing but how we are programmed to keep quiet about it.

There are thousands upon thousands of crass men like Wallace who assert social dominance through performative coarseness. Opprobrium should be saved for the institution that decided Wallace was untouchable talent, and fostered a culture where complaining about that sort of thing was pointless and career-limiting.

Because thousands upon thousands of men can’t all be “cunt of the year”. I agree they all deserve opprobrium, just not that particular accolade. Should have worded better.
I didn’t offer a pass, I just said they shouldn’t be enabled by public broadcasting corporations.
And I don’t think there is any reason to assume that DrunkJournalist is a woman. Or a journalist. I’m pretty careful usually not to argue the toss over this sort of thing with actual women who are posting in good faith - unless they’ve instigated it directly, as here.
But a broadcaster can?
You said we should save our opprobrium for the institution. I think we should criticise both the institution and the individuals.
I wasn't talking about DrunkJournalist in particular. I was referring to the people reading your post, some of whom are women.

Nor, IMO, is it acceptable for Wallace to implicitly excuse his behaviour by claiming to be working class. Men of any class background are capable of abusing their power and behaving inappropriately towards women. I'm sure I'm not alone in growing up with many quite socially conservative working class men who knew instinctively how to behave without causing offence.
