Margate away, Sat 3 Feb

Team. (Bonnett-Johnson replaces Ricketts in the squad, with Egan starting and Clifton dropping to the bench for Mills.)

Newly opened (last year) pub The Shakespeare is a 2 min walk from the station and the landlord is a Hamlet supporter, for anyone wanting post game/pre-train beers.

Could there be a more fittingly named pub for the away fans?
Thanks for the tip off, just popped in before the train home. Decent boozer run by Nick, who used to manage Hooper's (which closed 11 years ago) and the Old Nun's Head. He's always known how to run a pub.

Just reading this now but also stumbled on the Shakespeare on the way home, cracking place and great that it has been saved from dereliction.

On the game, so good to see us power on, relentless stuff. Slight blip when we let them back into to it, but the new winning mentality held out and we put it to bed..

So many good goals but Luke's first was something else - goal of the season stuff.

Margate were totally unprepared for the invading Hamlet hoards with horrendous queues for a pint, but great to see so many pink and blue scarves around the town and in the ground.

The security waving the metal detecting wands around at the entrance was rather unexpected at this level of football, but they were putting such little effort into the job you could have easily brought a small armoury int the ground.

Apparently it's a new security team for them. Guessing they are showing they are worth the money.

Attendance just 827, I think that's undercooked, must have been 400 rabble there and it was plenty busy around the sides.

Strange ground in that most of one side and the far end are blocked off, so the away support were fragmented in the second half l

I remember Hoopers, previously The Ivanhoe, and of course The Old Nuns Head. Really wanted to go to the game today but had to head to London (Southwark, weirdly enough.) Just seen a few pink and blue scarves coming through the barriers at St Pancras as I head back to the Isle Of Thanet...hope you alll enjoyed your day in Margate!

Their last two home attendances were both around 320-350, so that sounds about right to me. It felt like we outnumbered the home support, although we obviously had a lot more to shout about.

It's a strangely disappointing ground. When I first visited 25 years ago there was an old main stand on the open side, a big covered terrace at the far end, and some open terracing along the side that now has the seats with a flat area in the centre where something appeared to have been demolished. Since then they just seem to have dismantled most of it without adding anything of real substance. The seats look like a low cost quick fix, the far end has had a temporary seated stand with no roof, then a small covered terrace, and is now a building site with a mechanical digger. Only the clubhouse end with a decent partially covered terrace remains the same.

"The Wizard"

(with minor edits to the 4th line and middle line of the chorus!)

Misty morning, clouds in the sky
Without warning, a wizard walks by
Casting his shadow, weaving his spell
Pink and Blue cloak, tinkling bell

Never talking
Just keeps scoring
Spreading his magic

Evil power disappears
Demons worry when the wizard is near
He turns tears into joy
Everyone's happy when the wizard walks by

Never talking
Just keeps scoring
Spreading his magic

Sun is shining, clouds have gone by
All the people give a happy sigh
He has passed by, giving his sign
Left all the people feeling so fine

Never talking
Just keeps scoring
Spreading his magic
