Lunch should have its own thread

i have just had one of my fav lunches from a turkish mezze place near work

a tub filled up with the following
roasted / marinated artichoke
mini dolmas
some sort of bean thing
feta
olives
roasted mushrooms and rocket
mixed finely chopped salad of tomato, onion, cucmber and chillies
with a big dollop of hummus, and pitta on the side

nom!!

My work canteen has started doing "healthy/low-fat options", which today was roast salmon and crushed new potatoes. So I chose that. It came with an oily vinaigrette dressing and the potatoes had clearly been crushed with butter. It was very nice, but it wasn't low fat. It's nice that they're making a nominal effort, but I'm half-minded to go and say something. Would that be really lame?

It was the farmers' market at work today, so I'm having lentil bake with a can of ratatouille Provencale ...

i had a pret day. Half a baugette with goats cheese, sweet potato, roasted peppers and pine nuts (YUMMMM ) and a crayfish and avocado salad. Also yum :) I went to the gym before lunch so felt i deserved a treat.
Could do with a nice glass of wine to wash it all down now....:hmm:

Hungry now due to the pizza thread and no idea what to eat.

Thinking of making pasta with ham (needs using up), onion, a little spinach, parmesan, new potatoes, crème fraiche and topped with some grated cheese. This does not feel quite right on a Sunday early lunch but not sure what I want and the ham needs eating today and there is no bread in the house.

corr todays lunch was potato cake with a poached egg on top - with the potato cakes using up last nights leftovers so the mash made with bacon and spring onions was the base, with added leftover pork and peas, with some cheese grated into it too

that fucking rocked

It was better than I hoped in the end.

I cooked some boiling bacon with onions, added red lentils, a savoy cabbage cut into wedges, red kidney beans, a few flakes of chipotle chilli, a little Spanish smoked paprika, ground black pepper, the end of a carton of milk so as not to waste it, and a little before serving a bowl of leftover petits pois so not to waste them.
Extremely tasty and as the temperature suddenly plummeted and the brilliant sunshine turned into heavy rain including a loud clap of thunder, rather welcome and warming.
We'll be having it for supper too.

Today's lunchbox:

Kohlrabi and carrot salad with peanuts, sultanas, lemon and indian spices. Rocket and chard leaf salad. Tomato, radish, hummus and sunflower seeds. Bag of sugarsnap peas.

For later: banana, mandarin, plum. cereal bar.

How freakin' healthy is THAT?

Waaaaaaaaay too healthy! :D

I chopped up a lemony chicken thigh that I cooked last night, mixed it up with some spring onion, mayo, greek yoghurt and lots of black pepper and stuffed it into half a warm pitta bread.

last night's pasta bunged in a casserole dish and a topping of ground walnuts, cheese and breadcrumbs - pasta al forno I guess

a nice unhealthy lunch for me

chicken, bacon and salad sandwich, kettle chips, apple and soon to be mars bar

i is hungry

for my lunch today i had a plate of aunt bessies' yorkshire puddings accompanied by a jug of bisto gravy :D

There was an episode of Freaky eaters about someone who only ever ate yorkshire puddings. LOL! :D

We had a picnic on the beach....sandwiches made with left over chicken/spring onion/mayo/lemon juice, all mashed together  and cress and lettuce (and bread, obviously :hmm: ), carrot batons, olives, jaffa cakes and pears.
