Lunch should have its own thread

The what now? I need to know details! (For self torture only, because there is not a plantain to be found in this godforsaken two horse town  )
I didn't make it so the following is conjecture. Colombian caff in Brixton. They have a standard soup which is a spicy, spring oniony, coriandery broth with great big hunks of beef (that falls apart when you prod it *drools*), potato and that other south American tuber the name of which i forget. Anyway, last week they had a plantain soup as well which as far as I could tell was the same as the usual, but with plantain blended into the broth, an absolute fuck ton of garlic (no one sat near me on the way home) and some garlicky, fried plantain crisps on top. It was incredible. Come to London one day without the kiddies and we'll go! Don't have breakfast though.

Steak, greens and gravy.

Got a rump fort first time in ages as all steak has been fillet the past couple months, fucked it up not paying attention and over did it :(

A shameful dinner today. A bag of crisps, a bag of mini cheddars, some orange and cranberry cookies and half a box of chocolates. :hmm:

That's worse than my tea last night... I feel much better now, thanks.

For my lunch, I went into Collioure for their Sunday market and bought a good sized, hot, cooked, duck and chicken leg. Lovely crispy spiced skin. Bloody lovely they were.

My tea will probably be the same as your lunch... minus the chocolate and mini cheddars, but shall trump you with half a dozen fig roll biscuits.

That's the one (sorry). They put this coriandery/limey chilli sauce on the table that honestly they should bottle and sell. I'd drink the stuff. I only say without the kiddies cos it's a tiny place and I know mine wouldn't eat anything there btw. Could always do a weekday with Sammy before I have to get a real job :hmm:

I badly want to go there now :D but couldn't get there and back in time to collect E. School ruins lives  I will give this some more thought! (Are you getting a real job in the summer then? Poor you)

Bah. Well let me know if you figure something out -- a boozy, Colombian lunch with you for company would be wicked! I think I'm gonna have to - JSA is the alternative, and it's not really a feasible one. I'm head in sand about it right now though because the logistics leave me breathing into a paper bag.

And you! Ooh yes and May K! My interest has been piqued by the mention of alcohol too :hmm: I'm going to pm you excellent women right now.

Going to be a Byron burger for me fo'sho.

Been looking forwards to it all morning - the anticipation is just about the only thing that's been keeping me going since 10ish.

Rebelda are you talking about Santa Fereno (sp). They do this amazing breakfast meal which is rice and beans with steak, scrambled egg and plantain. It's so good. And they are so nice in there they make it for me for dinner and tea.

I love proper food (rice, steak etc) for breakfast  Especially if it's spicy. Spicy food first thing is the perfect way to wake up.

I just had a brown, seedy roll with mortadella, tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise, with blue Doritos and a coffee.

It really is. If I'm, erhm, 'able' to eat at festies :D I always go for a chilli or curry for brekky. Proper sets you up for the day.

I'm on beanz on toast today, with lashing of hot pepper sauce cos it is fucking FREEZING in work, and the fucking heating's broke :mad::mad:

That sounds brilliant. I may go on Saturday morning for a bit of that!

You're killing me!!! I'm really hungry and I want this NOW! :)
It's in Brixton Village right? I think I know which one it is.

Yeah it's in BV next door to Elephant, it actually has two entrances.

I'm off work today and need to pop to the bank so might go. The portion is huge. I can never finish and they aren't sniffy about giving you a box to take it home in. Also the empanadas. OH.MY.GOD.
