Living off the land 100%

That's not really the case with SE because he's not really super-active on threads he doesn't start himself. I had him on ignore for ages and it was just like he wasn't there; no gaps in threads, no confusion. Pretty much exactly what you say you wish for. Try it.
I might. It's my normal approach with people that just irritate me. But Stan is a genuine predatory stalker, and I don't see why I should ignore that fact.
To paraphrase and misquote Dostoievsky: "you can judge a society by how well it treats its Stans"
If it treats them by acting as if they are just a jolly laugh, that's no society I want any part of.

Me neither.
Again with the misrepresenting.
I meant no representation that you thought Standley Edwards should be treated as if he is just a jolly laugh. I'm sure you understand as well as anybody else how dangerous he can be.

I met Stan, briefly, in real life. I've interacted with him via pm. He's a nice, intelligent, interesting person. I find it difficult to understand how many posters seem to automatically post inflationary comments wherever, and whenever, he or his name appears. And I accept he, the same as many others, has done things that are wrong or questionable.

I would put myself out to meet him if ever we were in the same area.

Don't you believe it. For some people here, the world is not enough.

I would recommend you take a tablet rather than a laptop. The power usage is much more appropriate for roaming than a laptop

I think you are a little behind the times Stan's picaresque jaunt is done and dusted. He's currently rehearsing for pantomime in Macclesfield - Stan and the Beanstalk.

Here's an interesting article on the economic drivers for the forest fires in Portugal
Portugal Forest Fires Worsen, Fed by Poor Choices and Inaction

Might seem barmy answering my own post but ...Got an email today from some government department (as I have signed up to the portal for finances to pay the council tax and car tax etc) which explains its now mandatory to clear the land 50 metres from property and further around villages as so to reduce risk of fires. Top fine for not complying is 5000 euros.

50 metres seems a fair old distance, and is going to be a pain in the arse considering how vertical some of the slopes are in Portugal.

Does it say what the land has to be cleared of?
