Liverpool FC 2016/17: A Kloppalypse Now

Steel Icarus

we move
I'll kick this off with asking The Transfers Question: What/who do we need, and who should move on?

I'd have liked to have seen a top class goalie for a start. This new signing - is he there to provide competition for Mignolet? Cos dear flustered Simon can pull off some great saves on reflex but when he has to think he always looks likely to give the opposition a chance. Never seen such a worried goalkeeper.

So - what else?

Can I congratulate the OP for a frankly brilliant thread title.

Anyway, a left back is a must. Agree with others that we need a decent goalie, but not seen anything of this new fella yet.

I think we'll need a CB to go with Sakho et al.

Plus a midfielder to complement Can.

Basically, all positions in the squad need either strengthening or replacing. I very much Klopp, if he has much of a say, will make many massive signings, just little 'prospects'.

I've seen videos of the new goalkeeper and he has pulled off some incredible saves but any Tom, Dick or Harry can pull together a save compilation video for any keeper, even with Mignolet who by all accounts is a good shot stopper.

We need a keeper who can come and claim the ball from corners, distribute the ball effectively, is composed under pressure from opposition players; the things Mignolet is not so it remains to be seen if this guy is the same. He's from Klopp's old club so maybe he knows more than we do and I don't follow Bundesliga much but have heard good reports from those that do.

We've signed Matip to strengthen our CB position and with the Sakho debacle turning out in our favour I am not too worried about this part of the defence. Joey Gomez should be good next year in left back but agree we need another one if Moreno goes and I hope he does.

Midfield we are fairly strong as it is don't know much about Grujic who we've signed already and Zelinski who's been touted but again I'm sure Klopp knows what he's doing. Gotze is looking unlikely again so that just leaves us to spend big and get a big name striker into the fold to get some much needed goals.

Been linked with Higuain which would be brilliant for us but could just be more tabloid bullshit. No European football next year makes it hard to attract big names but Klopp being there does give us some attraction. Just don't sign some mediocre player like Shane Long and I'll be happy.

I'm looking forward to next season although it's going to be extremely hard with so many good managers and players in other teams. Hopefully we can finish in top 4 then bolster again and go for the league the year after.

YNWA!

At Dortmund, Klopp wasn't known for signing lots of expensive and already great players, but rather players like Lewandowski (aged 21, from Lech Poznan) or Aubameyang (24, Saint-Etienne), who performed well at rather mediocre clubs before. It's more important for him, that his players fit into his play-style and are extremely motivated to learn from him and reach the next step in becoming top-class players. Whatever names he'll come up with, I wouldn't rate them with their current fame but wait, what's Klopp's intend with them.

Sad to hear that it looks like Skrtel's off. Always been a fan of his rather forthright tackling, slightly less than genteel treatment of centre forwards and desire to keep playing even when practically knocked unconscious. Hope he does well at Fenerbahce or wherever he goes. Great player.

Well, he couldn't manage to score against a non-league team tonight, youse only beat us 1-0, with two league cup quality squads. Have to do better than that

Have genuinely had a soft spot for Colin Murray. He seems like a bit of bell end, but a nice bellend at the same time.

Like a Hipster that drinks in BrewDog, but knows it's shit.

Nice to see the official twitter cfc feed declaring the Fabregas red card was harsh.
Daft cunt.
Probably on £400,000 a week for writing shit like that.
