Let's have a Led Zeppelin evening!

But there was one which was identical for a number of bars. It was an olde English folk song but i can’t find the thing. Old Pagey is more light fingered than Noel Gallagher. I always found it funny that after he’d finished ripping off old blues tunes he then moved onto funk and on the last album Brazilian music.
Carolan's Dream. Irish, but close :)

Page lives next door to Robbie Williams and they fucking hate each other.
There's good reason for that. Jimmy Page bought his historical house early '70s then Williams went and bought the house next door. The first thing he did was submit planning permission
to rip the place to pieces and rebuild it. JP objected, not necessarily because of the noise, dirt and disruption but he argued that the work would undermine the integrity of his place.
Beautiful place it is. The Tower House - Wikipedia

Personally, I'd swap 'Black Dog' and 'Rock and Roll' for 'Ramble On' and 'Rain Song' ;)

Damn, I feel a Zep sesh coming on...

Both of those strong contenders. It was tough getting it down to 20 songs but I've just realised it's only 19.

So Kashmir gets added.

Any list without Good Times Bad Times and Bonham bass pedal triplets is lacking.
I absolutely love Led Zeppelin, have seen them nine times, including the most elaborate manoeuvres to get to the Celebration Day concert, and sad bastard that I am I enjoy seeing younger people reacting to them on YouTube.
Of course there is a lot to criticise, and I wish so many greats didn’t have feet of clay (like TS Eliot for example) but if there has ever been a better collective of four musicians I would like to know about it.

Nearest I got to seeing them live was Page/Plant at Reading. They were great, opened with one newie then it was Heartbreaker and 90% Led Zep from there on in. Really enjoyed it but would've loved to get to the Celebration Day reunion gig.

Back in the day early Zeppelin was know in some quarters as ‘cock rock’.
However one contender for a ‘cock rock’ piece the Lemon Song, has some of the best bass playing on it I have ever heard.
The lack of technology back then, and the expectation to deliver live, led to a demand for musicianship of the highest order, but Zeppelin live always has an organic improvisational quality that demanded of the group that they listened to each other, and tried to sacrifice what they did for the sake of the music overall.
Stupid old man that I am, seeing and hearing John Bonham play can still reduce me to tears at his loss.

Haven’t perused the list (iPad won’t let me for some reason) but I hope “Hey Hey What Can I Do” features somewhere 😎
