Jungle

Are these mixed?

I dj on mp3, so no need for them on vinyl :D

Yes they're mixed, good for working out what tune you want on vinyl though, and fine for me 'cos I don't play jungle out, don't mix, and mainly listen to them for 'home raving'.

When is the next rupture? Missed the one in march as I couldn't afford it.

Going to have to come down to ldn for some ruff pressure, it's one of the only things I miss about the south. Anything going on Mayday weekend?

Another one announced because they couldn't wait until November :)

The 160 BPM jungle revival is really starting to get some quality tunes behind it - really hope this builds and builds - need more producers jumping on it. Great antidote to some of hte more boring DnB out there.

This recent compilation album is perfection from start to finish - id go as far as saying the best jungle compilation ever put together - no hyperbole and zero filler

Label AKO basically Reinforced for these times

personal favourite

killer classic refix on AKO

Coco Bryce is like a machine, has been putting out scores of tunes, and I think his production skills in the last year are really peaking

Ive picked three mellow tunes as thats where Im at but theres tuffer tunes there too of course

Exciting time for junglists - fingers crossed it keeps going upwards from here on in

Jungle the sound of the 2021! Whod have thunk it

Hold on so these are new???? Sound like they jumped out of 1994/95. Strange. I don't really know what the sound has been like over last two years but these dont sound remotely fresh and I mean that in a good way!
Would be nice to find an event this summer. That Coco Bryce "Babae" one is doing it for me...will check out their stuff.

yes! brand new. 2020 was a vintage year partiuclarly. You can sometimes ever so slightly tell they're not quite from the era when you play them in the mix, but the key thing is you can play new and old and its seemless.
A lot of producers are you using old equipment too to help get the sound, down to Ataris and shit!

To help with the search - artists I've got in my bag in nearly alphabetical order:
Ark X
Coco Bryce
Decibella

Double O
Duburban
Jahganaut
Enjoy <<Class
Fracture
Dwarde
Eusebeia
FFF
KeeZee
Kloke
L Major
Tim Reaper
Pete Cannon

how good is that one 😍 93 vibes

Ricky Force
Shay
Special Request
Specialist X <<<Class
Stretch
Sully
The Last Ronin (Enjoy and Stretch project)
Worldwide Epidemic

some of these are teenage ravers grown up with it so in 40s (or older! Enjoy and Stretch must be 50 + but theyre veterans), others younger, DJ Tim Reaper is 27 - they just study it and have good anorak knowledge of the scene/producers/labels etc

I actually feel like you've just opened Pandoras Box for me. I cant believe Ive been COMPLETELY missing out on this "current" sound. Ha! This is amazing! Ive already looked up an event at The Cause in Tottenham over August Bank holiday. Wondering if I should just book any tickets even if its just the one for me. Im really impressed with what Ive listened to over the last 20 mins. Thank you again. Currently listening to a DJ Stretch/ MC Blackeye set.

mate me too, ive only just cottoned on this month
id heard some bits in 2018 and 2019, and there was that footwork jungle thing that happened, but nothing really grabbed me, too much amen breaks and im basically over the amen break - just heard it too many times
but then it turns out all this great music came out in 2020 and there are some older gems too
Theres a bit of mainstream DJ mag type hype about it too, so it could well turn into a thing more so than it already is
All good if so!!

This album is fucking fantastic. I seem to be listening to it yet again.

I love that fast/slow thing this kind of jungle does, with bits of soul and reggae floating about on a sea of clattering drums.

Please keep your recommendations for this stuff coming :)

that comp really is great isnt it - glad you're feeling it

Im finally getting around to doing a history of jungle mix series I've had in mind and worked out for about 3 years now, just never got to it, seems like now is a perfect time, so hopefully a mix of new tunes incoming - dont want to spoil that but heres a couple more

Mellow set starter
Ark X - X2LV

Love this - this is more 1993 style but does it for me - taking the vocal from The Realm to good effect in the second half - hang about till the end
Coco Bryce - A New Mind
