Paranormal activity - regular interviews with experts on the field. Conspiracy Theorist David Icke is a regular guest. James is also close friends with Uri Geller, who has been a guest on the show several times and Derek Acorah.

:D

At least with Whale there is an element of deliberately winding up the audience to keep the show entertaining, which is fair enough. (Although he'll never be as entertaining as "Caesar the Geezer" whom he replaced on Talk Radio).

Charlie Wolf, however is a complete twat who really believes some of the neocon crap he spouts.

aaaah James Whale is class.

He was on Radio Aire when I was growing up and used to absolutely love his show.

He's on talk radio now is he?

ps you don't really think he means the stuff he says do you??????

"that money was just resting in my account!"

I used to love Ceaser - what a snide cunt he was after all - defrauding charity and that. Came from the same estate as me. Whats he doing now, i wonder?

Whale's on again until 1pm. Here www.talksport.net

He's just launched into a tirade on political correctness, he's treading a fine line at the moment, I have to say!

Should make my morning at work a bit more interesting at least.

They should pop James Whale in a dinghy off the coast of Japan. I reckon his blubber would fetch a fine price.

What did he do?

he diddled charity money while he was working at invicta fm (acquitted on theft, convicted on intent to defraud). he was a decent enough proto-shockjock, did long, long shows into the early hours, but when that story broke he was persona non grata for years.

All hail the King.

I miss him :(

I was listening to Whale last night but switched off to watch Match of the Day.

I have to say, I quite like him.....he does go on a bit but he cracks me up when he gets in a row (which is quite often)

Thing is he's a bit of an iconoclast really. I've heard him have some right rants at homophobes, for instance, so he's not totally a Littlejohn.

Far more obnoxious is the American guy they have really late over the weekends, Charlie Wolfe or something.

I occasionally used to watch that show he did on C4 ten or so years back, and can't remember him ever coming across as right wing. In fact, I remember him getting very passionate about issues such as racism and homophobia, and even visibly upset when a poll revealed that the majority of the show's (post pub, so there was possibly a major wind-up aspect) audience to be in favour of capital punishment. Definitely opinionated, and maybe at times hard-faced, but surely no Tebbitist...?

Yes - it was on YTV - I mentioned it earlier :p
Ah yes, post 25.

I didn't know it was YTV - I thought it was Carlton or something. Yeah, it was pretty ropey when it started, but I think it got much better over the years. Jerry Hayes was had a regular guest spot on the show IIRC, which I never really saw the point of, being as he was an irritating twat who looked like he had a rod up his ass and had absolurtely nothing of any interest to say.

Much better was some rather rotund lawyer geezer who gave people advice on how to kill their landlords and other pearls of urban wisdom, and that proto-Mark E Smith and doyenne of Reevesian wit Charlie Chuck. there were also some decent musical acts - Peter Straker did a brilliant a capella rendition of 'MacArthur Park' on one show, and I seem to remember Tom Robinson being on a few times. ;)

Didn't Jerry get disgraced in some rentboy scandal quite recently?

I don't know Mr Whale but is it possible to lock him in a cell with the obnoxious Nick Ferrari, shock jock tosspot of LBC and minor TV fame? Can we, please?

I think the twat did a couple of different stations...

how they fucking get these positions is beyond me.

Radio Aire was around '80-81 with his late late show, i remember our kid worshipping him, but then again he is a bit of a facist bastard himself ;)

sorry cam

I liked Tommy Boyd too, only reason worth listening to that shit station once upon a time. He did go off and do his own 'podcast' type shows.

gary jacobs... and lest we forget: showbiz hack baz bamingboye

while we're at it, let's try not to confuse 'the james whale radio show' (on tv! hilarious!!!) with 'whale n', because they were clearly completely different... and yet, both produced by mike 'cue the music' mansfield (not to be confused with mike 'human rights barrister' mansfield).

in early 97 iirc (he later lost his seat at the general election).

I agree, he's a devil's advocate. Rightwing when it comes to winding up environmentalists and lefties, but also quite anti-homophobia, etc. ALso very anti fox hunting.

True, 'Whale On' surfaced a year or so after the demise of '...Radio Show' and was an altogether more accomplished show. Lasted a couple of years too, which was successful in terms of late night TV. :)

IIRC late night ITV used to be quite good thing in those days, what with 'The Beat', 'The Little Picture Show' and 'The Big E' et al. Of course, it has long since returned squarely to bollockdom and repeats of fascinating if-you-didn't-catch-it-the-previous-evening news magazine shows about outbreaks of chickenpox among the elderly of Bexhill, 'Rock Profiles' from 1996 featuring Jason Orange's exciting new post-TT solo career, barrel-scraping 'Trisha' zeroxes and wrestling...
