Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

Just goes too show the power of the targeted public relations tools being employed at the moment.
As the propaganda gets better and more suited to the individuals preferences i am expecting to see a lot more people falling for it.

The tricky bit for me when talking to these people is the realisation that they have to be bigoted racist #$%^s, at least at some level , for the propaganda to work :(

Do you consider Chavez a threat IWNW ?

Seriously though ... to believe that you must see Amnesty International and the UN as part of this communist conspiracy ? Because they heavily condemned the police brutality and murder of protesters.

Of course Chavez is a threat. He rigged all those American election machines for goodness sake.

I mean if it wasn't for Chavez, and his partner in crime Malcolm X, the whole world would now safely be ruled by the trump family and we'd feel their benevolence.

You just can't get simple alternative facts like these through to some people.

you ok man? where's this come from?

I’m feeling quite good recently, thank you. I mean that too, and I understand your question is genuine, so I appreciate that.

What Im saying is that Antifa are literally communists. That isn’t controversial. They’re not simply anti fascist, and they’re not simply civil rights activists, they’re pro communist, and pro violent revolution.

That’s the problem with them in Portland, and it’s what TomUS is seeing every day in his home town, seeing it destroyed by their violence. I simply don’t believe the claim that it is all in self defence, or in defence of the vulnerable.

Violence is enjoyable. It has a certain allure to it. And this is why people will lie to themselves and others to justify it. That’s what I see happening in Portland.

How weird! It's almost as if people are aware that you can't fix a fundamentally racist society just by passing some laws. Like maybe the problem runs a bit deeper in society than just a handful of crusty old bigots ruining things. Perhaps it's the fact that we're still dealing with the racist nature of police violence against unarmed civilians that's making people look a bit deeper than just "racism bad"?

It's really strange seeing people in America talk like there's something bad or wrong with the notion of violent revolution

When their country is founded on just that

TBH this is pretty controversial, outside... certain circles. Which is why I'm a bit concerned.

It’s like we’re back in 1895 here. Thank you Le Bon.

It’s really not though. Political violence simply isn’t something that washes with the public, and certainly not with me. Maybe I’m just getting old.

I guess the other issue that is bugging me recently is the cult-like dynamic that exists within radical political circles, and is visible on this site fairly regularly. The love-bombing of those that are newly brought into the fold, the shunning and hatred of those that diverge from official doctrine - “collaborator” is just another word for heretic or apostate, as far as I can tell.

Basically you think it's ok to be a bigoted racist *$%& because everybody around you (or at least on your fb feed) is. It's only when you come into this space that you are coming into contact with ... not liberals ... but people who actually understand the complexity of the issues.
That's why your confident. Not because you know your right but because you think your part of the dominant class.

I’m referring to krtek a houby calling TomUS a “collaborator” for daring to object when his city is destroyed. It’s repulsive to say that about someone.

I don’t know much about the ground level situation in Portland or the average Portlander’s stance on it (to my understanding there is a limited area which is a bit of a mess).

I do think two things are true:

i) phrasing like “city destroyed is the kind of thing I expect from right-wing echo chambers

ii) if TomUS was properly on-message, the term “lived experience” would have been used several times now in reference to his posts

Thanks for the textbook response. It’s almost like you copy and pasted it, yet you accuse me of being in a bubble. It’s pure projection mate.

This is the cultlike dynamic at play. You have your script, and you have your filter through which to see the world. It all looks so simple to you, and so you rinse and repeat.

And as an aside, I don’t have a Facebook and I don’t use social media. U75 is my only social media.

A quisling. A fifth columnist. Yes, a collaborator or at best a fellow traveller. Tomus is repulsive. And so is anyone who takes his side, opposing his accurate classification

Oh, and Portland still very much there. As for being destroyed I suspect durruti's famous comment on ruins would be uttered by Portland dissidents and proudly too
