They slated social media when it first came out as they saw it as a threat to their industry. Although their line was unsubstantiated news by amateurs is dangerous and unreliable.

Now it's a go to source for them to generate column inches about anyone mildly famous (if it's viral you count as famous no matter who you are).

Add to that Tony Abbots recent 'confession' that he got so drunk one night in parliament that he missed an important vote.
