India decides gayism among consenting adults is illegal

camouflage

gaslit at scale.
Homosexuals cried on the streets before the supreme court decision today, at what they consider to be devastating news indeed.

I'm sure it's only 'technically' illegal, I doubt the cops will ever bother to actually prosecute any homosexualists or take the slightest interest in their activities so long as they don't start waving that rainbow flag of theirs around and making a nuisance of themselves. It's probably certainly just a nudge-wink sort of 'illegal', like with rape or child-abuse or whatever. Women and girls are raped in India all the time and hardly anyone ever gets prosecuted for that, except maybe once or twice... for the tourists y'know, nothing serious, so what's the big deal, it's just a silly law, no man is actually expected to take it seriously. These homosexables should lighten the fuck up.

WHat's with the comedy language?

that or cry. and rage, and cry, before psychotic break at the woe of the world. Reading reddit world news is like an endless litany of how severely most of the world is a boot stamping on a face forever and ever. and ever. without humor there's no defense at all from utter despair. That''s what's with the comedy language.

the best thing to do is to stop using reddit etc. Limit your ‘news’ intake. The News is designed to make you feel paralysed with despair and fear.

Anyway, back to India, this appears to be part of an ongoing process – AFAIU their supreme court has thrown out the 2009 ruling of a lower court, and also advised the government that it was up to them to legislate if they wanted to make homosexual acts legal.

I don't agree that the response to bad news is to pretend it's not there... personally I just avoid reading Metro on the way to work but bad news definitely sells more generally. To be fair there's good news too.... for instance Uruguay have just finalized terms for a peace deal with Drugs, could this be the last days of the war?

I know what the court has done here, the Indian government must step forward and make the policy to decriminalize homosexability and not fob it off on the supreme jobsworths. Nonetheless women and girls are assaulted in massive numbers every day in India and hardly the finger of a damn is lifted by the cops at all. This makes the whole law and sex thing a stark and very dark joke in my opinion. We talk about india in this case because the report is about india.
