Iceland v Portugal (Euro 2016 Tue 14th June 8.00pm)

Just read a funny comment on this: "Small mentality...mate do you know who you just played? A country so small they actually have an app to prevent accidental incest amongst their populace, for one."

:D

Given how "great" some of the Portuguese players think they are Iceland showed that, at least last night, they could be just as great.

Gutsy performance from Iceland but Portugal imo ran the match for a good hour off and on and if it wasn't for some sloppy finishing , (and defending for the Iceland goal) and an outstanding performance from the Icelandic keeper Portugal could have won by a couple or three goals.

Ah yes. But they didn't. They couldn't beat tiny Iceland.

I have always detested Ronaldo as a preening arrogant self obsessed prat as a person prone to diving, cheating and influencing referees but have had to , how ever unwillingly , admire his immense footballing talent . There was a comment in one of the papers that effectively the Portuguese tactics are a) give the ball to Ronaldo b) give the ball to Ronaldo quicker and with such a talent there's a lot if truth in that. He had ten efforts at goal in the Iceland game .
Mourinho in 2007 suggested that he may have had a difficult upbringing or a lack of education to try and explain his arrogance and demeanor. In the bar last night he general feeling if the Pirtuguese was that he does it for Madrid but not for the country.
If Quesmera is fit and is capable if producing the form he showed in the warm up friendlies then he is worth watching. A very gifted player with superb technique whose career has been a lesson in how to fail to reproduce that talent with any consistency . He spent a miserable season at Chelsea a shadow of himself.

not disimilar to some of your lot - Cashley and The Racist spring to mind

So proud of the Icelandic! Great result, looking forward to their next game. Although last 16 is a tough call a win would practically solidify that!
