I always wonder how that's possible given they're locked and tracked and tied to your bank card...
There was a scooter tucked under a bridge near me which I suspect must have been hotwired in some way...
Perhaps people start stealing them and give up or are just taking the piss ..

I saw a leccy hire bike the other day where the battery had been ripped out. I couldn't do a 10 minute trot to work without passing at least half a dozen of the things. To think, the council has now designated parking areas for them. It's not working and I doubt it will ever worker.

I've just witnessed a couple with a push chair struggling to get past this thoughtlessly dumped hire bike. These things are a nightmare for people with poor site. There was an item on R4 a few days ago on which poorly sighted people have said they are frightened to go out any more as they often trip over them and end up getting injured.

for people chucking butts I have a very low tolerance and have had a few rows with people over the years, having been hit in face with one thrown out of a car which was o/taking my m/bike {and the general fire risk}
few years back I almost called the rozzers - I have public footpath up through the "wildwood" that's [part of my garden]. some xxxxxers were using fag butts / their lighters to try and set a fire, which I did not appreciate. took photos and got them to leave by threatening to call the rozzers.
Because of their behaviour, I did speak to the local plod for advice ...

I'll have to go ahead & make a confession. I was walking my little chi-poo in the park Sunday and I saw 3 large, opened (and mostly empty) cardboard boxes smack in the middle of the walking track
At least one of the boxes had a mailing label on it. I packed the boxes up in my car, drove to the address and deposited the boxes in front of the home of the litterer..

A neighbour of mine was fined by the borough council when cardboard boxes of theirs with their name and address on were found dumped. They swear they must have fallen off the bin lorry.

We put some cardboard into our "normal" recycling bin [collected alternate thursdays] but the big boxes / corrugated boards go to the local "household recycling hub" aka the village skips. When they are open !
Whisper in quietly - sometime the less busy & much better organised site across the county line gets used.
However, I usually tear off labels or scribble over them. ditto with scam mail shots.

Here, the recycling gets taken to a transfer station after municipal collection. Many municipalities use the same transfer station
If they did that for all the litter round here then maybe Croydon council wouldn’t be bankrupt!

I'm routinely surprised by the ineptitude of my neighbours with processing their cardboard for easy disposal - along with them apparently never checking the council website to know what week is landfill collection...
And so few people will even deal with the cans and bottles they have to step over to get into their cars.
Partly because in recent years I've taken liberties with neighbours' bins, I'll go a bit above and beyond... a couple of months ago I swept up broken glass from the middle of the road - perhaps I care more because I'm a cyclist ... I suppose cleaning up dog shit from near my gate is as much for my own good...
And so few people will even deal with the cans and bottles they have to step over to get into their cars.
