Hurricane Sandy - "Perfect Storm"

How was Nebraska this summer? Did you get a any rain at all?

Nope. Hardly a drop. I saw a real dust storm a couple of weeks ago. It covered most of the Western half of the state.

They said that Wilderness Park had 80 mature trees die from the drought.

sorry I keep plugging this website, but Holy Crap!
I've never seen it look like this before, all churned up.
the wooden structure you can see in the lower right hand corner, and also in the other cam "surfside 5 deck" is the deck of the bar we hang out at all summer. Surreal to see it like that.
Also if you look at "Pavillion North" cam, yes, those are houses and buildings the ocean seems to be approaching.

The sea's certainly a bit busier than it was yesterday, and even this morning

I want to go down there!

/stupid american mode/

Off you go then, don't forget your surfboard and camera :D

I know you wouldn't really, but seriously, these people that do go and do silly things, and then risk the lives of rescuers :(

I've seen pictures of people surfing yesterday and other people standing by choppy seas. Don't they hear of the dozens of stories every year of people caught by freak waves

Isnt it strange that with natural disasters in the US comes frothing dumbfuck gobshites?<snip>
Not strange at all when you bear in mind that the Pilgrim Fathers were convinced that they'd be able to change the climate of where they settled as long as they lived godly lives.

Can you stick your head out of the window and take some pictures please? :D Wear a crash helmet if things are flying about

it's really not that crazy here just a few miles inland. I was only half joking about going down there  I will take vids /pics when it starts getting interesting.

South Carolina preacher Wayne Hayes said: “Thanks to their God-friendly absence of homosexuals and abortion, midwestern states have always enjoyed a stable climate.

“Excluding of course the frequent tornadoes that rip through Kansas and Oklahoma, which are entirely due to low pressure systems and tropical wind patterns.

:D

What the fuck is this "landfall" thing then? Is it just the American word for "land"? Even the announcers on BBC radio are using the term now FFS!

I was going to mention that, but thought I'd be accused of being anti-American. :D

Why they just can't say "hit land" is beyond me

Anyway, as Ms Caphat is an Essex girl, I think we should retrain her to speak UK English

Doesn't it just mean when the eye of the storm hits land, in a shortened way? Given the size of the storm and consequences aren't you being a bit picky? :D

It's not called "UK English", it's called "English".
