That is an incredible waste of kitchen space.

Bockwurst (grilled) in a crusty roll with Bautz'ner Senf and a splodge of Hela piquant curry ketchup. Tis "the real thing", not some shonky American copy that uses pig foreskins for the meat content.

Could you not look around and see how the locals are munching them?
Sounds like a better bread to sausage ratio than in england. Too much bun.
Worst hot dog prize goes to New York street sellers. Shit mustard, dogs taste of water, too small, doughy cheap arse bread.

And for some reason the bread tastes sweet. WTF is that about?

i like hot dogs.

however i am a bit confused if a bratwurst would count as one.
frankfurters i would say fall in the "hotdog" camp but not so sure on bratwurst

Bratties are mega for "hot dogs", but contain much better-quality meat (and a lot more of it!) so they're probably not quite "junk food" enough.

Currywurst FTW!!

What are they made of? Cos with sausages, everybody knows the coarser the grind of the meat, the better, yet with hot dogs they seem to get away with the constituency of meat so favoured by Richmond and Kwik Save own brand snags, i.e a smooth pink paste :hmm:

Are we having the rug pulled from beneath us while we snaffle down some 30% or so meat content German snorker wannabes? I demand an end to this hipocrisy on behalf of all proper sausages!

love hot dogs, ideally with a toasted bun, fried onions, ketchup, cheese and mustard.

am a massive fan of Banger Bros in London Bridge, and have tried all their offerings, including the quite delicious mediterranean veggie one. The British cumberland is best:cool:

What are they made of? C

i think traditional Frankfurters are made of turkey.

actually, thats wrong. But, some of the sealed supermarket pack ones are definitely made of turkey. I read the ingredients once and was stunned.

Didn't come out quite as good as last time. Probably because I did not kneed the bread as much and it didn't rise.

I must admit that I've been disappointed with currywurst on my few experiences. To a German, waving some sharwoods powder in front of Happy Shopper tomato ketchup makes a curried accompaniment, or so it seems when it comes to currywurst.

Like German wurstyweinerdogs in the main though. And the poles seem to do a mean equivalent, at least judging from the meals and bbqs of late. A plain old hot dog's alright, but you always feel a little hollow and sauce-filled in the aftermath ime. Prefer the sealed packets rather than tinned hot dogs too, which are a little too mushy and remedial tasting.

peasant.. currywurst is luverly

though tbh like any food i guess it depends heavily on who cooks it

What about the Westlers eh, whatever happened to them?

My university bar boasted a Westlers machine with oversized rolls and one of those metal poking stands, so your giant hot dog got inserted in suitably porny fashion right in the middle of the roll. Now that was real technology and innovation at work.

Sausages/hot dog good, sauce disappointing ime. Curry and ketchup loses to ketchup and mustard in my book too. Sue me, albeit I'm judging on my massive experience of that German pub in Camberwell, one festival stand and a meagre school trip experience at Phantasialand. Went to all the trouble of ordering everything in German too, only for the smiling Aryan behind the counter to ask if I wanted 'ketchup and mayonnaise, mate'. He's still to blame for my lack of German speaking skills, for sure.
