I don't eat meat. The best veggie ones I've had are Taifun Tofu Weiners - sooo tasty.

I might get some of those this evening after this thread. I occasionally get the tivall ones which are ok. I find the ikea veggie ones a bit too dry

They sell them in Waitrose. Ikea ones are OK but you def need plenty of sauce. It's more the bread I find dry ther.

At £2.99 for 4 I couldn't bring myself to buy them!
I suppose at least they're made from tofu rather than soya like most other ones. I still don't quite understand how your typical cheap meat hotdog sausages are 90% soya and 9% lips and arse and 1% flavouring, whereas veggie ones are 99% soya and 1% flavouring and yet cost 20 times more

Its the lips and arse that make it taste so good tho :)

I am a fan of the Hot Dog
Hot Dogs are foul junk food

tbh you should be able to choose both of these

I've had meat hot dogs before and tbh the lips and arse make very little difference to the taste :)

Idk I eat a fair amount of veggie substitute food and its always worse than the meat version, even those with a questionable amount of meat in them.

Cant say Ive tried those, Linda McCartney ones aren't bad but well really aren't sausages (which Ive also given up eating lol)

Just for reference a normal sausage in a roll/bun is not a Hot Dog, it is a sausage in a roll/bun.

Can you clarify exactly what you mean because in your photo of a hot dog the sausage looks like a sausage, its been browned and has griddle marks, wheras I was of the understanding that hot dogs were meant to be boiled and rubbery. :hmm:

Linda McCartney stuff is crap tbh. The sausages are not a patch on Cauldron or tival ones

Well tbh I only had those cos a fellow urbanite was serving em and is themselves a veggie, plus they were on offer and we'd done well getting through cash on booze and nasal accessories the nights before.

Cooked Hot Dogs last night.

Got some large dogs from Lidl and some baguettes. The baguettes were a bit too long for one dog but too small when cut in half, but I squeezed them in.

Did the onions in the hot dog water with some brown sugar, crushed jalapeno peppers, cayenne pepper and seasoning. They were pretty hot but damn tasty. A little bit of cheese and topped with American mustard and fiery Heinz ketchup.

in germany when yuo get a sausage they come as the bare sausage in a plastic tray, then a tiny little roll on the side that is half the length of the sausage... not sure how you're meant to deal with these?

Could you not look around and see how the locals are munching them?
Sounds like a better bread to sausage ratio than in england. Too much bun.
Worst hot dog prize goes to New York street sellers. Shit mustard, dogs taste of water, too small, doughy cheap arse bread.

I think I am going to do my baking dogs in the bun thing again for tonight's dinner. This thread has gotten me hungry.

They're not cheap, but as they are about twice as long as normal hot dogs, so it's only the equivalent of 37.5p per usual size hot dog.

i like hot dogs.

however i am a bit confused if a bratwurst would count as one.
frankfurters i would say fall in the "hotdog" camp but not so sure on bratwurst

If you look at it like that I suppose. The tival ones are quite small. We're going camping at the weekend so that may justify me getting some as they're not frozen so will keep better than the other sort :)
