Hole in my shoe. . Vegan Doc Martens. Help.

Seriously?!? I thought they had a lifetime guarantee, they should last at least 10+ years, even if you wore them every day, shouldn't they? Never owned a pair personally, so can't bring any personal experience to the table, I was a monkey boots man.

They should but they never do. The declining quality of doc martens in receent years is well-documented. Just another reflection of fact there's somehow more money in making shit things than good things.

I know it’s too late now but did you contact them at the time? This happened to Mr Looby and they replaced them with no hassle.
Worth remembering for future.
happened to me - took them back to the shop I bought them, they were going to send them back to DM but that never happened so I got them back and a full refund which I used to buy an identical pair. I took the original pair here:
Classic Shoe Repairs, Brecknock Road

and now I have two pairs that both work fine.

I have a pair of those vegan Doc Martens, they are very nice, bought them in a sale in the Camden shop.
In general they are very hard wearing, but one shoe developed a crack on the outside early on that over time has made its way through to the inner lining. This lets water in and I assume will just keep getting bigger.

My question is, as it's not leather can I repair it with some rubber glue (is there such a thing?). What about a puncture repair kit?

I would just buy a new pair, but looking on line I have discovered the non sale price is waaaay out of my league (nice to know I got a pretty sweet deal at least).
Was this with the Dr Martens as sold at Men's Vegan Boots & Shoes | Vegan Footwear | Dr. Martens UK for £149 odd sponds?

Am considering a pair myself, though the prices seem pretty high, especially if they fail!!

Mine don't look like that, mine don't look like they are trying to look like leather at all really. I think they are an older model, probably why they were on a super sale price at the time. Shame because I would probably buy them again. The boots are actually great, and certainly the left one is still in perfect nick. It's a small crack on the toe crease, nothing has happend to the sole or anything else and I pretty much wore them every day, just not in summer. I should have probably done some softening cream treatment or something when I got them.

ATOMIC SUPLEX could be yours is a different model, I just looked at the DM site to see what was what and was a little surprised they were priced at £149 which would be the most I have paid for a pair of shoes.

I had DM when I was in the UK, I got through 3 pairs in 7 years. I can’t understand the fuss over them. In 2019 I got some leather shoes from M&S which I wear most days, they’re better looking, more comfortable, and cheaper than DM.

they never had a lifetime guarantee

the sole doesn't last that long - never mind the leather, and if the leather doesn't crack then the stitching will go. obvs if you're wearing them occasionally they'll last longer but if you do as i did and have them as your main or only footwear - and walk as much as i do - then they won't last much beyond a couple of years ime. and as for repair, years back there was i think only one places repairing dm soles and that in canterbury iirc.

Begs the question, why buy DM then? (Not that I ever have, I only buy Clarks.)

Mine look like this.

Kind of got a textured toe bit.

Need a bit of a clean.

Left boot is in perfect nick, right one has the crack (but only the outer bit - see below). I also see now it is coming away from the edge in a one cm section and perhaps another crack is forming. Hopefully the shoe goo I ordered will fix all this. Such a shame as the left boot is doing so well, the soles are looking great. Might have rubbed a bit off the front from skating to work every day.

Longest lasting footwear I have ever owned:

A pair of black cowboy boots (it was the '80s) - cost a small fortune initially, lasted for years, had the soles replaced every so often and blakeys on the heels because I have an odd gait and cause uneven wear on the heels

A pair of Chelsea boots which cost an inordinate amount of money but were incredibly comfortable and stayed in one piece and looked smart for years - again I had the soles replaced and stitching redone a few times.

A pair of proper hiking boots which endured all sorts of walking/hiking general outdoors punishment over the years (I waxed them regularly).
