And Mick Wallace tops the poll!
Wallace is OK, for a developer.
It's going to be FG/Labour for sure. The persistence of an FF rump, the political degeneration of Labour, and the fact that voting for SF is still a bridge too far for many people (any word on Gerry's chances in Louth, btw?) will probably prevent a true left/right realignment, at least for some years to come.
I'm just happy to see FF smashed, that's all (even if the French daily Liberation described them as 'centre-gauche', ffs)
Dun Laoghaire: Final Tally - Eamon Gilmore 20%, Sean Barrett 19%, Mary Mitchell O'Connor 16%, Richard Boyd Barrett 10.8%, Ivana Bacik 10.46%, Mary Hanafin 9%, Barry Andrews 6%, Ciaran Cuffe 3.75%.
Won't Bacik do ok on transfers though? RBB polled 8.9% first preferences in 2007 and still lost to Cuffe (7.7%) of the Greens.
During a by election a couple of years ago, my mam wouldn't open the door to a gaggle of FFers. She hid in the kitchen and could see Bertie Ahern peeking in the living room window.
Mick Murphy of the SP outpolled Conor Lenihan. 2462 votes to 2341.
he got my number one. I'm losing my mind that the UAL are still being classed as part of the independent bloc when they're got twice or three times the seats as the greens!
1522 Two men carrying altered Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael posters have been removed from Cork city Hall by Gardaí.
The men who say they represent a protest group called Tir Na cGasta entered the building carrying a posters depicting Enda Kenny as a woman and Micheál Martin as a priest.
The men entered the count centre for a few minutes before they were removed by gardaí and count officials.
Gardai arrested a man who attempted to set a ballot box on fire as he voted in the village of Tang, on the Longford/Westmeath border on yesterday evening.
The man had collected his ballot paper from officials and appeared to mark his votes on it but in fact had poured petrol over the ballot paper.
He then set the ballot paper alight and attempted to put it in the ballot box but was stopped by gardaí and officials.
There was no damage to the ballot papers in the box or to any of the staff at the pooling booth.
The man has been charged with public order offences and is due to appear in court in Athlone today.
Has Gilmore already said they would be prepared to work with FG?
1855 Louth: Sinn Fein’s Gerry Adams and Fine Gael’s Fergus O’Dowd have been elected on the first count.

Poster on the Cedar Lounge blog says RBB is just barely maintaining his lead, and he might just pull it off yet.
Didn't know that, but a property magnate as a 'Left candidate'?
