Harry Roberts has been freed

When the coppers walked in a line along the side of the pitch we used to sing the laurel n hardy tune then when they started throwing their weight around we started the 'harry Roberts' song. Good old days of football not the boring shit of today (though I'm glad the overtly racist songs have gone)

If the media are correct in saying that Robert's made calls to the Cartwright's over a 4 year period, surely plod wouldn't have had any problems in tracing those calls. Yet they didn't.

Exactly, doesn't quite add up.

When I read that point in the posts above, my immediate assumption was that he had friends on the outside who did the hate calls and animal abuse for him.

It's a perfectly possible assumption - but why would they, knowing that calls could be easily traced? A few one off calls, yeah, but over 4 years & plod did nothing?

You'd expect plod to be frothing, & pinning everything they could on Robert's to thwart his parole.

The calls were supposed to have followed his last parole being turned down - they were part of his alleged revenge on Joan Cartwright and the St. Bernard'S Animal Sanctuary for giving evidence against him at the parole hearing. The parole hearing and the fact that they allowed the Cartwrights to give evidence in secret through david blunkett bringing in special measures is on the record. I don't know if the parole board was able to check say phone records or not though. The police and prison staff already had their story to keep him in - drug dealing, gambling, associating with other criminals when out on day release (he was photographed 120 miles away from here he was supposed to be with known armed robbers for instance- going to TGI friday with a kray family member as well), getting his brief to do illegal things for him and so on - all the usual stuff they will invent if need be. They didn't need this other stuff - they already had him where they wanted him (partly through his own stupidity it seems).

How easy is it to trace calls made from a PAYG moblie, or from a public call box, assuming you can still find one that works?

Which doesn't prove that HR or anyone acting on his behalf did this, but the suggestion it couldn't possibly have happened or plod would have enough evidence to prove it doesn't really stand up to the briefest examination

To call them (the Cartwright's) liars without a shred of evidence would be foolish - but considering Robert's parole & the number of coppers (senior & below), MP's & members of the public who don't want him to see the light of day, I can quite easily see this as being state/media fabrication. What better way to pull on the heart strings of the general public, with stories of animal death & cruelty.

You only have to look back recently to the Manchester dogs rescue home that was burnt down, to see just how much people react to such a crime.

As said above - this evidence was given in secret and a banning order was put in place preventing naming them. This wasn't lifted until nearly 10 years after the alleged incidents. There was no publicity at all about the claims to pull on anyone's heart strings.

Come on, Bish. It's a piece of piss to make untraceable phone calls and always has been. Just use a phone box.

From what you said in your previous post, it looks like he really doesn't give a fuck about jeopardising his parole.

fyi: pay phones can be readily traced. and the person making the call can be traced via the cctv which covers so many of the remaining pay phones.

Perhaps in the city but anyone who can't find a working phone box that's not viewed by cctv out in the sticks is probably too incompetent to be trusted to make the call in the first place.

I don't want to tempt fate, but if he does kill another copper, would that make it the first demo/terrace chant that's actually achieved its stated request?

There are quite a few of them but they all seem to need a phonecard of some description to pay for the call. Christ knows who carries a phonecard around instead of a cellphone.

People who want to make untraceable calls and (for some unknown reason) don't have access to a PAYG mobile, presumably.

And as for "cellphone"

Is there another verse to it then?
Harry Roberts is our friend,
is our friend, is our friend.
Harry Roberts is our friend, he kills coppers.
Let him out to kill some more,
kill some more, kill some more,
let him out to kill some more, Harry Roberts

tbh it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a working pay phone and most of them no longer take coins.

If the alternative is crying for deadly revenge, then yes we do. Otherwise how do we maintain the idea that human life has a special value which we should try to protect? Harry Roberts felt threatened so he kills; we feel threatened by Harry so we kill. Singing from the same hymn sheet doesn't work.
