Hackney chitter-chatter &tc

Looks like Black Cat cafe (Pogo to the sightly older crowd) is closing for good this time:

That's a shame, I'd no idea it was in trouble (and I live pretty close and go there from time to time). Did a great brunch and was always very busy when I went in. (And much better than the Pogo cafe incarnation where I once had cake I'd have sworn was made of whale blubber if I hadn't known it was a vegan cafe.)

I had to check where the cafe was (Clarence Road, Lower Clapton) I don't think I've ever walked past it.
Shame it's having to close.
I walk past it a lot , but have never popped in , mostly because I walk back that way from Hackney Central Station which I use on my afternoon commute most days and I'm not in a popping into a cafe mood at 6ish in the evening.

Re the tree fallen over the part of the New River at the junction of Seven Sisters Road and Amhurst Park - just passed on the bus and noticed guys working on the removal, they've taken the fence down and started sawing up the wood.
The path along side should be walkable soon
I noticed that this morning from the bus - it has taken a while!

Apparently a woman in her thirties got shot in the leg near Morrisons in Stamford Hill. Which is shitty.

But according to twitter it was “Hammas Gunmen” and is all Sadiq’s fault. Which I am mildly sceptical about.

Last night, a number of the people in Hackney who do not consider one of the borough's MPs, Diane Abbott, "odious" or "repugnant" or whose response to the mention of her name is "I can't stand her!!", responded to the decision of Sir Keir Starmer KCB KC MP to suspend her from the parliamentary Labour Party for nearly eleven months while his officials "investigate" a two paragraph letter which was 7-8 sentences in length, following the news this week that the Conservative Party's principal financial donor has called for her assassination.

Related footage and discussion of last night's protest appears below:
