Glasgow cops vs pink yiddish bag

hitmouse

so defeated, thinks it's funny
The not-yet-open queer yiddish cafe Pink Peacock seems to be getting regular attention in the Scottish S*n at the moment, and have recently been getting a bit of hassle off the cops as well:

Not gonna link to the Sun but here's some screenshots from the archived version:

City police confirmed that the posters were seized under the 1994 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act which deals with offensive and obscene material.

Under the act there is an offence of "intentionally causing harrassment, alarm or distress through threatening, abusive or insulting words, behaviour or displays".

Such an offence carries a maximum penalty of six months in prison and/or a £5,000 fine.

Sort of backs up what the offending poster showed. Cue drug users suing the police for any offensive posters they've put up.

Possibly - I'll swear I remember a case where someone was walking round naked and the police weren't classed as a member of the public (i.e. human being) so them being offended didn't count. That was well before 1990s though.
