I was under the impression that the mc cabe you where talking about was another incident in belfast..however for the record garda Mcabe was offered 3 times to surrender....he was faced by an IRA active service unit...and he refused to do so....he was offered the chance to stand down and he refused,.....that being the case when the garda opened up the volunteers had no option but to open fire and deal with the them.......im proud of my friendship with the vol of that operation for ive known them and there good men.........of course a conor cruise obrain like you will take issue with that......thats fine
