General Dulwich Hamlet chat

Special mention must go out to Farnham Town for doing the business against Sutton United on the 18th April to ensure we remain the record winners (16 times) of the Surrey Senior Cup!

Unfortunately Farnham lost the final 1-0 to South Park Reigate at Dorking last night.

I ticked South Park a couple of weeks ago when Hamlet were at Folkestone. They had Danny Pappoe at centre back and he gave an immense performance that almost earned a point against Marlow (who finished 2nd and will play Leatherhead in the promotion final at the weekend) but a scrambled goal in the 6th minute of stoppage time won it for Marlow.

From this year's Surrey Senior Cup Final proggie.

The South Park defence impressed on Wednesday too, though they were aided by Farnham having their weakest attacking line up this season.

This season Farnham have played two lines of forwards, rotating them at around 60 minutes but injury / holiday / one player deciding not to show up left them with no attacking substitutes for this match and the regular substitutes played all 90.

Going to be interesting if we ever hear talk of tight funds at Champion Hill in the future if Dulwich are paying nearly £28k for a full time kit manager.

It equates to the London Living Wage, we continue to be a London Living Wage employer
I’m not thinking about the salary but that this appears to be a full time position, five days a week, comparable to similar positions at a football league club.

No surprises there. Hendon had been predicted for a sideways move back to the Isthmian by the boffins on the Non-League Matters forum, who are usually pretty accurate. I thought we might have got Hanwell Town too, who've been left pretty isolated in the Southern Premier South with the loss of Harrow, Hayes, Beaconsfield and Chesham as well as Hendon, but that would have meant splitting Bognor and Chichester. (Unless both West Sussex clubs had gone into the Southern, along with near neighbours Havant and Gosport, with Bishop's Stortford returning to the Isthmian.)

One player who won't be joining Hamlet for 2024/25, is Shay Brennan. Tooting people reckon Hamlet were sniffing around Shay, leading goalscorer in the CoCo last season whilst playing for a generally unimpressive Tooting side. However he has signed for Farnham Town. From what I saw Shay has the potential to go well in Step Three, though to date he has he usually played Step Five.

Shay used to.play with two of the Farnham Team, Darryl Sanders and Joe Jackson, at Loughborough Uni. which probably helped them snaffle him. Hamlet fans may recognise the other two names, both played fior Bedfont Sports at the Hill in the FA Cuo Joe scored the winner.

On a long term contract too.

Childhood friends of mine watch the Pitmen. After a flirtation with liquidation, last season wasn't great on the pitch to put it mildly. However the club took several steps forward off the pitch. The ludicrous season ticket price hikes at Wolves may see them pick up a few new fans too. Given the impressive infrastructure, Steve may have fallen on his feet. I hope the Chairman has the wage bill under firm control though.

Quite what Steve knows about Birmingham(ish) based players will be interesting to see.

Season tickets now on sale for 2024/25, same prices as last season until 30th June:

I don't recall an early bird window last year, and can't see any indication of how much higher the prices will be after this window closes.

Season ticket details weren’t announced until much later last season so no chance of an early bird discount. Communication from the club has been much improved this pre-season.

Has anyone seen what the prices will be after the early bird period? The question has been asked on Twitter to the club a couple of times, but hasn’t been responded to. Feels weird to offer a discount when you’ve got no way of working out how much of a discount it is?
