although only the mince beef ones - the bacon and cheese ones were my favourites

I don't know whether they have changed the recipe or my taste buds have matured, but they are definitley not the same as when I was young. I have a craving for them every now and then and always disappointed. Oven chips and spaghetti hoops are the accompaniment for me.

As a side note - did anyone ever manage to cook them without them leaking/exploding?

Probably because the salt and fat content is lower.

And nope, never had one stay intact during cooking

3. From memory, in 1998 they were also available in with a Ham and Cheese filling. This now appears to have been withdrawn.

I can remember them but still can't find any concrete evidence

They're not real food, like Pot Noodle isn't, or Mc Donalds.

I didn't like the fillings so I never had them that often. You could probably make your own far nicer ones, even start up a business selling 'gourmet crispy pancakes' or something.

There were plenty in the Streatham branch of Iceland yesterday.

Never ate them myself - partly because they were relatively expensive, and partly because (yet again) the ingredients include stuff I need to avoid.

Still at least the Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall programme showed me how they're made - and that's enough to work out a filling which I could have.
