James Bond likes a train. THe SKyfall sequence is one of the most OTT of his
though this :hmm: :rolleyes: :facepalm: :D sequence is the first that came to mind
 
charlotte gray, the 39 steps (robert powell version), polar express, for a few dollars more, butch cassidy & the sundance kid, marx brothers go west, stalingrad (1990s one), enemy at the gates (when lovely jude sees sweety rachel weisz), railway children ...
disappointing non-train films: midnight express, train-ing day ...
 
Its not a film but the music video for Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat is one of my fave train related cinematography creations
 
Several of mine already suggested (the General, Night Train, the Lumière brothers' one, etc). But I haven't seen Some Like it Hot mentioned yet: it's a classic.

Also, for the fantastic false perspective shot in the station: Sunrise, a song of two humans.
