Film tie-in songs that were bigger than the film

Despite a fair bit of hype, the remake of Suspiria didn't really make a mark to my knowledge. However Thom Yorke's Suspirium got a lot of airtime (maybe just on my stereo, though)

I thought the film made quite a big mark tbh. Horror fans tend to either love it or hate it, but it's so definitely its own thing it deserves the discussion it gets.

Great hair.....

As a side note in this discussion I love the fact this song was in the trailer but not even in the film.
I'm no Ferry fan but this is a beautiful cover version. A film to watch before you die.

I loved that film. Beautiful cinematography. Maggie Cheung's exquisite wardrobe.

Mad World? Donnie Darko wasn't a hit having come out around 9/11, the cult acclaim for it led to the DVD release after which Mad World got a proper single release.
I loved the cover version of Mad World in Donnie Darko, one of the rare occasions where the cover version is equal to or even surpasses the original.
