Yea, I was really surprised to see them playing the Academy. I saw them a few months ago at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth and they couldn't sell out a 400 capacity venue. Are they big enough to do the Academy then? I saw they're playing there in September.
Bit underwhelmed by their latest offerings.
Yea, I appreciate they're Brixton boys, but to go from 400 to 4,500 is quite a leap! I'm tempted to go but I frigging hate the Academy and I just know it'll sound awful.london is home crowd though... coronet was sold out for sure
They played the Brixton Fightback show at the Electric last year and a lot of the crowd were there for them.Yea, I appreciate they're Brixton boys, but to go from 400 to 4,500 is quite a leap! I'm tempted to go but I frigging hate the Academy and I just know it'll sound awful.
coronet is at least 2000 isn't it? much more than 400 anyway!! But yeah it is still a big step up i agreeYea, I appreciate they're Brixton boys, but to go from 400 to 4,500 is quite a leap! I'm tempted to go but I frigging hate the Academy and I just know it'll sound awful.
Wow, didn't realise the Coronet was so big. 2,600 apparently. Did they sell that out?coronet is at least 2000 isn't it? much more than 400 anyway!! But yeah it is still a big step up i agree
It was definitely sold out.... I think 2600 is the full club capacity though so i doubt it is quite that capacity for a gig where people need to see the stage, probably more like 2000 just guessing... + black lips are a pretty big name themselves so I guess that could just about fill the academy or at least make it fairly fullWow, didn't realise the Coronet was so big. 2,600 apparently. Did they sell that out?
How can any of you bear to listen to them with that awful fucking name?
Singer is the biggest nobhead I've ever seen on stage.I had enjoyed them on spotify a bit (despite the very shit name) but I saw them live the other day and it put me right off them. The lead singer was an arrogant, strutting prick, and not in a fun way, and the sound was more stadium rock than punk. A disappoinment.
Yeah, the people I was with who had never heard of them before took an instant dislike to him, which prevented them from enjoying the music at all - and I can't really blame them.Singer is the biggest nobhead I've ever seen on stage.
I wrote a post on this thread about his behaviour at a gig in a Madrid if you want to search for it. A dickhead.Yeah, the people I was with who had never heard of them before took an instant dislike to him, which prevented them from enjoying the music at all - and I can't really blame them.
Are you in Madrid at the moment btw? Thinking of a little trip there.I wrote a post on this thread about his behaviour at a gig in a Madrid if you want to search for it. A dickhead.

Pregoblin is formed of an array of local musicians including Jessica Winters of the indie synth-pop outfit Will Sin For Love, ex-Fat White Family Alex (writer of Touch The Leather) and Scud FM and Meatraffle drummer Adam Bremmer, and they combine to create an offbeat, disco-powered sound.
Another of their spin off bands are playing the Effra Social next week at 10pm, And it's free

You understand why the band has the name, yes?Pregoblin?
I’d kind of be half-expecting a band member to have a seizure onstage.
You understand why the band has the name, yes?
No, but it sounds very much like a common anti-convulsant.
Also used to come off heroin apparently...
