Which two pubs?Fucking hell. Why are you excusing this guy's behavior. He's banned from two of your favorite local pubs for racist language. Is that seriously cool with you?

Well it quite clearly doesn't because it completely avoids the fucking issue - that he used racial abuse on the occasion described by Talluajah. (EDIT and accosted Badger's co-worker with the complaint that "nobody speaks English here")Saul has read the thread. This is what he has to say: "saul from the fat whites here. im not racist i despise racism. i hope that settles your debate."
me back on page 6 said:And the point isn't whether they "are racists". I don't think anybody is claiming/believes that they are long term ideological racists but rather than one of the band members made a racist remark.
Where have I "excused" his alleged behaviour, exactly?Fucking hell. Why are you excusing this guy's behavior. He's banned from two of your favorite local pubs for racist language. Is that seriously cool with you?
You might want to check that fact with the Albert's landlord. The grosvenor and the Albert.
Noone's mentioned on this thread for sure. You might want to check that fact with the Albert's landlord.
never has beforeAh fuck it. The ignore thread function will stop me from wittering on.
You might want to check that fact with the Albert's landlord.
The grosvenor and the Albert.
Both you and rutabowa are top dudes so I have no idea what hold this guy has on you both to excuse this shit.
You might want to check that fact with the Albert's landlord.
Someone on this thread who works there is not exactly complimentary regarding his behavior and language in the pub.
Sorry, I assumed that was barring kind of language. If he's not banned then I hope the irony is not lost on the polish landlord.
So you just made up the fact that he was supposedly banned without bothering to check the facts. Why would you do that, exactly?Someone on this thread who works there is not exactly complimentary regarding his behavior and language in the pub.

It doesn't matter what you think "banning behaviour" is because you don't run the pubs concerned. He was banned from the grosvenor for claiming that 'niggers can't read'. He also demonstrated similar behavior at the Albert, corroborated by a long time poster here. Apols, but I'd regard that as banning behavior.
It ain't about if it's forgivable - it's about if it took place.I would also suggest the fact that he is no longer barred from the grosvenor (i dunno for sure that that is the case however) would mean that they are satisfied he is no racist. the people there are infinitely better placed to judge what happened on that night 5 months ago than either you or me, e.g. context etc. So if they decided whatever happened was forgivable then i think that says something.
i don't think there is any question that something took place. but there was a wide range of possible interpretations of how bad it was, from the given information. It ain't about if it's forgivable - it's about if it took place.
Thanks for that. What given information? An i thought it had been refuted anyway?i don't think there is any question that something took place. but there was a wide range of possible interpretations of how bad it was, from the given information.
Fucking hell, you're still going on with this stupid racist/not racist nonsense. Why can't you (and the rest of those defending this bloke) get that isn't the issue. The issue is whether the specific incident outlined occurred or not.I would also suggest the fact that he is no longer barred from the grosvenor (i dunno for sure that that is the case however) would mean that they are satisfied he is no racist. the people there are infinitely better placed to judge what happened on that night 5 months ago than either you or me, e.g. context etc. So if they decided whatever happened was forgivable then i think that says something.
Hang on, so now you're admitting that "something took place". This morning you were claiming that it was a baseless allegation.i don't think there is any question that something took place. but there was a wide range of possible interpretations of how bad it was, from the given information.
Surely any band/artist these days can expect their facebook, twitter, instagram, website, blog etc to be reacted to? It's a bit much asking for or expecting publicity for stunts/protests, but only when it looks 'good', and then complaining about getting attention if it is negative or controversial 'in the wrong way'? It's not like people here are music journalists playing some kind of game, and can be wound up a little bit to get a bit of press coverage or sell a certain kind of image before a gig or album launch, and then they'll just go home and forget about it because 'its all just a laugh innit'.jesus christ, what an incredibly strange thread, complete with facebook stalking. can we just talk about the bands music now, please?
Messaging must only go one way. They're on stage, not you, get it?Surely any band/artist these days can expect their facebook, twitter, instagram, website, blog etc to be reacted to? So you want a 'kind of controversial' music video or some almost cock-shots for a mag/blog or to talk about living in squats, but if people here start giving their version of what they think of band or start digging up other stuff that isn't in press-pack then it's out of order?
And when the little bubble enters the real world we get this. Did iain mackay die for this?Messaging must only go one way. They're on stage, not you, get it?
am I missing something? He's not dead is he?And when the little bubble enters the real world we get this. Did iain mackay die for this?
No, but he thought the little differences between performer and were being broke down rather than extended by this sort of rubbish.am I missing something? He's not dead is he?
Hopefully the only thing 'going one way': Saul's first band was The Metros wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_MetrosMessaging must only go one way. They're on stage, not you, get it?
...also just found this from another old Metros interview (2007) http://www.contactmusic.com/info/the_metros
It is OK to talk generally about the band on this thread isn't it? That's what it's for right? A bit of (anti)hero worship!"It's easy for people to get confused," adds Saul, for clarification, "thinking we're wide-boys or lads, but we're relatively middle-class. We weren't born on a sink estate or anything. We take a bit of our own experiences and what we see around us and turn it into songs." There seems to be the germ of a social conscience in their music, too, with the track Robbin Hood name-checking Che Guevara and ruing the "degradation of the Welfare State". So are they old-school socialists? "Saul's a card-carrying member of the Communist Party," quips Jak. "We might talk about that sort of stuff when we're drunk," counters Saul, "But politics and music. it's a bit dodgy, innit? All I want is people to put on our records at a party and dance and have a good time."
