Farewell to the InterCity 125?

Here's the last ever HST to leave London on a regular service (20.02 to Leeds), just before it set off from St Pancras yesterday evening.

A low key affair, not a large number of people had come to see it off and the staff weren't letting anyone on the platform who wasn't travelling so a small group watched it disappear from behind the buffer stops. A bit sad it didn't get a proper send-off but I gather quite a few people were out along the route to see it go by.

Presumably the IC 125 locos are compatible with a number of different makes and/or models of passenger cars? Or has there been only one type of passenger car certified to be pulled by an Intercity 125 power unit?

They are only fully compatible with the HST version MK3 carriages they've always operated with. Anything else needs modification to electrics and stuff.

Yep, HST stock is different voltage, although the prototype power car is different and can only operate with the loco hauled mk3 stock (which it did for a bit a couple of years ago until the NRM took the keys off the 125 group who’d restored and operated it).
