Fantasy tv schedule

Annierak

Coulda been a corn tender
With tv being mostly shite nowadays it got me thinking........over the years there's been some excellent tv programmes, drama's, films etc. If you were to pick your ideal night in front of the box what would be on your fantasy channel?:hmm:.

Ok in no particular order.........

Abigail's party
prime suspect
curb your enthusiasm
sorry
royle Family
cracker
Les Dawson show :D

Oooo forgot The Lovers with Geoffrey bobbles bon bon and beryl baby :D. Christ really showing my age now

I'm too tired to think of any more so i'll leave it to you :)

i would have sport all through the summer interspersed with posh people who won medals in the 1990s congratulating other posh people who won medals this year , and then in the winter i would have cockneys arguing about mindless problems

maybe the odd news or aspirational program to remind me that i was poor every now and again

Good choice sir :D

edge of darkness was a tv show that i would like to see turned into an ongoing thing (edit: it couldn't really be ongoing, but they could have that theme more of evil governments and even more evil CIA people)

and homicide life on the street could have gone on forever

i have a cd with 5 series of 'the wire' which i will have to watch, but it is quite daunting to get into yet another depressing series about why life in america is shit

Good choices from Annierak, there.

I'd take Abigail's Party, and show it with Nuts in May (his other early masterpiece).
Prime Suspect -- oh yeah. And Cracker. And add in some Taggart.
Spaced
Reggie Perrin.
That Xmas episode of The Good Life.

I'd probably break up the evening's viewing by showing episodes of Roobarb & Custard between programmes instead of adverts.

And then Whatever happened to Baby Jane? as the latenight film to round it all off.

Oh yeh, Spaced!!! Yeh that would be on my list too. Maybe some 'Rising Damp' as well as 'Reggie Perrin'. My late night film would have to be something i haven't seen for a while, like 'The Rose'

Good choice sir :D

oh i forgot to mention reality tv :D

I would turn everything that is kind of interesting to someone who isn't really into it such but finds it interesting like conducting an orchestra or training to be a sportsman into a second rate reality show involving 4th rate celebrities and 0898 votes to make money for twats who are rich enough anyway meaning that anybody remotely interesting on these shows is thwarted because the teeny amount of power that anyone who didn't go to cambridge has over television is in the hands of the sort of idiots who will spend twenty pounds of their hard earned money on keeping some grinning moron on tv over another grinning tv moron

i do like Steve Jones tho :D

Rising Damp -- the episode where Rigsby thinks the bloke is going to top himself. :)

And how could I forget Steptoe & Son? Edit: The one where they divide the house in two, and have ½ the telly each.

Oh i'd also like some classic Victoria Wood stuff *awaits abuse* :D. Maybe some Wood & Walters that was made for Granada as i haven't seen them since i was a kid. Loved the sketch where Julie Walters is the assistant in the boutique with a machine gun :D

Oh and Alan Bennetts 'Talking Heads' would be good too, especially the Thora Hird 'Cream cracker under the settee' as it makes me cry, so moving :(

rising damp where rigsby thought he had got a prostitute but he didn't

quantum leap where al was the devil

the good life whenever felicity kendal bent over

every time that smackheads appeared on telly like david blaine or pete docherty

derren brown ripping people off and pretending to be a magician

the richard and judy show in a couple of years when one of them reveals that their marriage is a sham to the nation in the near future

i would like to see dawn french trying to be funny more

'she's fat, but she thinks she's sexy'

the only funny thing about dawn french is that she is married to an even bigger twat than herself

Maybe some Tiswas so we could see the phantom flan flinger doing what he did best. We could also reenact 'The dying fly' dance

Something tells me you don't like our Dawnie :D

one of my favourite tv things ever was when ali G had jarvis cocker and gaz from supergrass on and he got them to play their song and just put jungle over them

have you noticed how brilliant Absolutely Fabulous was because Jennifer Saunders didn't let Dawn French in on it

Everything Dawn French is in is mediocore, because it has her in it
Well Ab fab was excellent and i've always thought Dawn wasn't really that funny. The later French & Saunders tv series was dire, really cringeworthy stuff. Dawn seems a nice enough woman but i always rated Jennifer as the talented one

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
I'd forgotten all about Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea; I used to love waking up on a Sunday morning and watching that while I wrestled with a hangover. The crew of that submarine would've been fucked if it wasn't for those huge air vents that they hid in every week to escape whatever manace they were facing.
