I reckon Yahoo will start taking registrations and putting up player values at the beginning of August. I don't see why you want to start planning now, your 2nd division fate has already been sealed :) ;) :p .

just getting an idea of who will be a good idea to chuck in the team.

I have been playing champ manger to much recentley so am getting used to thinking far far to much about football!(makes change)

Hmm, how to pick my team.....?

Maybe I'll just pick players with names of people I know, are there any Hannah's or Zoe's playing for Man Utd?

Or maybe just out of a hat.

Or players whose names each start with a different letter of the alphabet.

Or all left-handed players.

Ooooh, this is exciting.....!













(I actually do know a fair bit about footy, though I'm still gonna end up mid-table/at the bottom)

Oh no, naming teams is not my strong point.

When the world cup was on panini did a sticker collection and a few of us in work decided to have a race to see who could complete it first. It's changed since i was a kid... you can send away for the last 50 stickers now so i did. Filled in the form and got to the part *name of collection*. Damn it i thought, not only do i have to reveal the fact that a 37 year old is collecting kids stickers but i've got to name the fucking thing as well. So i put Lyn's stickers and sent it off. 3 days later, my cheque and form were returned with a note asking was i collecting harry potter stickers or my little pony or...? :oops: :oops: :oops: :rolleyes:
 
When Yahoo or another suitable site is taking registrations I will post a link for everyone. All you have to do is register your team and sort it out (formation etc). Afterwards I will give you the details of the league to join - this will include the id number and password.
 
Yahoo Rules:

You have 100 points to spend on players. The value of the players can change depending on how well they're performing.

You get points for attacking discipline - Goals, assists, FK bonus, penalty bonus, shots on tartget, fouls won, completed passes etc, and defending discipline - blocked shots, tackles won, minus points for cards etc. Only the goalie gets minus points for goals conceded.

If a player's value on your squad drops below its purchase value then you can update the value so you can free up cash for a purchase in another area. Increases in value do not get updated.

Edited to add: You can change you team as much as you like as long as you have the points spare.
 
Umm, I just had a qucik sneaky peak on Yahoo, and it says you can register now for £10. Thing is I can't afford to spend money on such frivilous activities as a Fantasy Footbal League (university) so if there is a registration fee I can't play :(

Is there some way of not paying? Maybe by putting a black hood over Yahoo's head while we sneak by and register?
 
I've had a look, but I can't get through. Last year it was free, and if it isn't this year then don't worry cos I've found another place that is. The rules at the other site are different though and are what ChrisFilter might call more 'footbally'.

You pick a squad of 20 and from them you pick your starting 11. You can change the starting 11 as much as you like. You can make a few transfers throughout the season. Scoring is simpler than the Yahoo version - goals, assists, minuses for goals against etc.
 
If they're going to charge a tenner this year they're going to make millions! - there were hundreds of thousands of players in the UK leagues alone - and they do American Football and other sports as well. I suspect it'll be a £10 to register a league rather than to participate - i bloody hope so anyway.

Yahoo don't charge for any other fantasy games according to my brother, who is a bit of a fantasy sport nut. I don't see how football is any different.

Even so, I've been scouting around and in the space of 24 hours the alternative site has started charging £5. Bastardos!

Not to worry! I've had a look at the official premier league site and they do a fantasy league for free with private leagues and all.

Have a look to check out the rules and register if you like, but you won't be able to sort your teams out till the new season is ready to begin.
 
I did one a few years back that did it on OPTA points which was ace. Meant you actully had some benefit in picking some vaguely defender type players in midfield rather then your lampards scholes and boywers.

It's free - just register and follow the links to the fantasy game.
You have 100 points to spend on a squad of 15 - 2 goalies, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 strikers. Take your time 'cos once you've submitted the team you can only change it by making transfers. I'm not sure how many transfers you can make up to the deadline on the 16th, but afterwards you can only make 1 transfer per game week for free. After that you will be charged 4 points per transfer. Good thing is you are able to make points on transfers :) .

Anyway everything is in the rules, which are pretty straight forward :p . Any questions just ask.

Right I've cocked that up a bit. :rolleyes: I started PMing people the league details, but then I forgot who I PMed. Also, my connection has gone to pot and it's taking me ages to get anything done.

So, whoever has not got the details yet pm me or someone from the first page of this thread for the details.

edit: Does it matter (from the premierleague.com's side - in terms of deleting teams) if we put in a made up 'real name' - I don't want the whole world knowing my name... ???

i'm still getting access to other people's teams - none of yours tho'...
 
Even if you stick in your real name when you register at the start you can change it to whatever from the edit user details thingy.
