*Fantasy Football

I'm wondering how to determine which league people should start in if the 2 league system is chosen.

There are two possibilities:

1. Start from scratch and pick at random.

2. People who took part in last seaons FFL get put in the first division (except ernestolynch ;) - that's if he isn't too ashamed to play of course :p ), and the new folk in division 2.

I'm leaning towards number 2 atm (Edit to add: Of course if there aren't enough people from last season taking part, it'll have to be number 1).

Any ideas?

I'm in - I go for option 1 - there seems to be a bigger interest this time around. And I'll play it seriously this time. Dynamo Pwllheli was a half-arsed attempt to get a Welsh XI out.

BRing it on!

Last time out you was the North Korea of fantasy football weren't you Ern - miles behind everyone else and not a prayers chance of catching up with the modern world - whilst my glorious libertarian warriors were surging ahead to new golden age. (Well second place).

:D

Ah but we had the biggest stadium in the world - and the mass rallies! Shame I spent too much time on my DVD collection instead of marshalling my lazy bourgeois right-deviationist lackeys into shape!

Same name this season? I'm changing mine. Something really provocative.

mr hammer melchiot is a right back and will be competing with young glenn for that spot. Bridge will be up against babyaro! and will easily get that spot.

cole won't get a game while hasselbaink and gudjohnson are fit he will aslo be competing against mikel forsell.

I reckon bridge will be to expensive in the grand scheme of things anyway!

The little I saw of C Cole last year made me think he was worth a punt cos he`s real cheap but I think you are right he will only start if JFH and Gudj are out but I thought that with no Zola he might get a crack.

Bridge will be good value cos he has been priced already ( D telegraph) as a Saint , he is cheaper than Le Saux for example .

Melchiot / Johnson is a tough call so Bridge gets the vote.

You're just sore cos you sucked last season :p ;) :D .

hehe, yeah, I did.. and I'm saying i'll do any better this year.. but you had no hope in hell last year if you let the team stay the same.. you had to swap 5 players a match to get any points, and to be honest I couldn't be arsed!

While the first would give those who know how to play the Yahoo game an advantage, the second may lead to a half arsed try.

Could you break the leagues into a D1 and D2 half way through the season, like you suggested earlier? Does the league mod have such power :p ;)

The people from last year could be put in D1, whilst the newbies can be drawn to either D2 or to fill any gaps in D1.

However, if possible - I'd prefer just the one league. I like the idea promotion and relegation*, but as this thread has shown interest wains; New people join u75; Others leave; Some just missed this thread last season. This 'missing clubs' scenario'll probably happen again next season making it pretty difficult to determine who goes where.

I suppose we could pretend that the 'missing clubs' went into liquidation :p

*just out of interest, how would it work? 2 Up, 2 down?)

BEst idea yet - that'd be great, Ted.

what are the rules?
Usual: you get a load of cash at the start of the season to buy players - if your players cash value goes down you can cash in that difference (but have to sell for the new lower amount).

Buy good players after they have a shit week (this gives you a good player and more money in the kitty for the likes of Henry)... I got some right bargains last year :D

Obviously, points are scored according to passes/goals/saves...

I have allready started sorting out my team even though i don't know how much is in the kitty and how much everyone costs.

I'm fucking pathetic!

 Do the players values change on a match by match basis then? Is there a limit on transfers? Never done the yahoo version of ff.

2 leagues mid season sounds a good idea. Gives you something to go for if you've completely bolluxed up to start with. In our office ff game we've split the season into quarters to keep interest going. Seems to work, although cash prizes are involved

Mind you i didn't complain when i won a couple of quarters :D

sorry, new on fantasy football. When does it start, and where is the site, if there is one.

rules, money, points, players, number of forwards, midfield, etc.

So far 30 people are interested, which will make 2 decent sized leagues, and I'm sure a few more will join later on.

The mid-season table split sounds like a good idea, and it is possible in terms of 'mod power' :p .

I was thinking of having the split relatively soonish - around the mid September (maybe end of August 'cos clubs are playing 2 games a week at the start of the season), have a promo/relegation just after Christmas and one at the end of March.

2 up/2 down

Edited for muppet spelling

Prizes!!!

Oh yeah there'll be prizes at each promo/relegation point and at the end of the seaon. :)

Something like a fake football jersey of choice or similar.
