Hmmm not sure about that, think the NES might be but will have to check.

Yeah I know,I'm sorry I just thought it was funny that you mentioned Palm OS in this thread about old consoles. :)

The games where pretty much the same price as the console itself.

A bit like Gillette Mach 3 razor blades....

Neo-Geo games are coming to the Wii virtual console, although they need to sort the storage system out for the Wii first and allow it to pick up external drives, as no doubt Neo-Geo games will eat most of the inbuilt 512mb memory for breakfast.

How advanced were Neo-Geo games?

I know all the chips were in the carts, but the games themselves graphically wern't all that super-dooper. All I remember was they had loads of speech in the games which was novel at the time.

They had the best beat em ups at the time (SF2 aside).

I mean in relation to Neo Geo games eating the 512mb. I remember Return to Zork from 1993 on the PC had tons of speech and FMV and was only 20mb.

They were early on, no ? I remember just about every game I ever played was compared to 'the arcade version,' that was always the reference point, the neo geo was basically an arcade machine afaik or at least it was arcade quality.

I used to have one, the games that came with it were quite good actually.

Flimbo's quest, Microprose soccer and the almighty Fiendish Freddy's Big Top O' Fun :D
Now that brings me back, I got those games on a cart that plugged into the back of my c64, Flimbo's quest was a really good game, first game I got addicted to.

I've still got my amiga 600 in the attic, I took it out and started it up a while back - nostalgia is overrated. :(

edit again: I never had a console, I only got the commodores because they were 'educational'

Did you ever fight that fucking huge woodlouse on one level  ? I think it might have been the first or second one actually, you went back on yourself and all of a sudden there it was.

Dunno if it was a woodlouse, but it looked like one to me.

Old games were great :) Giant woodlouse? Why not? No plot, no characters, just weird shit.

I still play my Dreamcast, but I guess it's not really all that old - just dead.

I did have a Coleco Vision and a Vectrex at one point. Loved both of 'em.
