Fabio's Future - Place Your Bets!!

He will be paid to leave and there will be a search for another manager who will get a shit set of players who are not as good as the press or fans think , then at euro 2012 ( if they qualify ) when they get knocked out at the appropriate time for the teams quality that manager can be pushed out as well .

He'll stay on for 2012, but will leave after we're beaten by a Germany/ Portugal/ Spain/ Italy etc. team.

the FA will sack him, with a massive pay off. Of course they will, who else are they going to blame? The players? Themselves? No chance.

You can always trust the FA to fuck it up. In 1990 they decided before the World Cup not to extend Bobby Robson's contract - so after producing our best side since '66, we lost out best manager since Alf Ramsey. And then they appointed Graham Taylor instead. This time, before the tournament, scared by the thought of losing Capello to Inter, they changed his contract and removed a clause which would have allowed them to say goodbye to Capello after the World Cup - and if they want to do that now it'll cost them upwards of £10 million. So basically they - and we - are stuck with him until 2012 unless he decides to do the decent thing and quit. We'll find out later today if he does, but I'll be surprised. Although to be honest, I'm not sure that anyone else is capable of turning that bunch of players (and others who weren't in the squad) into a team that has a realistic chance of doing any better than qualifying for the major tournaments in the foreseeable future.

This, sadly.

If I had the effort in me, I'd trawl throughall the posts on here, and all the articles in newspapers, and find all the quotes from before the tournament started about how wonderful Capello was and how refreshing and needed his approach was.

I'm not saying Capello didn't mistakes - I honestly think he did - but I rather think successive performances in successive tournaments exhibiting the same problems with different managers suggests it's more than just about the man in the suit (or with the brolly - pillock).

Incredible to think hes gone from hero to zero in the space of 2 weeks
'zactly. Dude fucking made some mistakes, but for fuck's sake you've got to give him something to work with.

I genuinely didn't understand the majority of his substitutions, but it's four games and the players hardly fucking covered themselves in glory. Yes, a lot of it comes from the mananger, but he can't stop them giving the ball to the opposition or having the control of a drunken gorilla.

Why does the FA's lack of ability to write a sensible contract mean that he's a tosser?

They had a sensible contract. If Capello fucked up at the World Cup he would leave with no compensation. Then, just before the tournament starts, they renenogiate the contract to say he's actually due a big pay-off if the FA want him to go!

How the fuck did that conversation go?

Capello - Just say we fuck up at the world cup and you want to sack me. At the moment I get nothing. How about we say I get £6 million instead?

FA - But you're not going to fuck up are you?

Capello - Of course not!

FA - OK then! Not a problem!

Apparently the FA were afraid Capello was going to Inter Milan so they renegotiated his contract, did'nt they do the same with Sven?

Yes they did. Can't remember exactly why now but it was something similar, and he got a big pay rise too. IIRC it was that Mark Pallios who was Chief Exec of the FA at the time whose idea it was - and we all know what happened to him.

I normally hate the 'blame the manager' game, but on this case he really is shit:

-first off he cant speak english. how can he give a half time team talk? how can he understand what gerrard is saying? how can he create a sens of a team? interpreters are not the way to go - an england manager has to have a good command of hte the language - communicating with the players is The Key part of the job. compare with argentina...thats a football team

2nd, his attempt to forge a team by acting tough only works with the communication skills

you mention his substitutions - i question so many of his team selections, formations and subs that i dont know where to start. i think it was a mess

-terry's attempt to raise the issues is the smoke of the fire - the players were not happy about the regime, and i can guess why.

*as to 'we loved him before' - i hadnt really seen him talk up until now, and picking random squads for friendlies is not a test.

Can the FA afford to sack him? I thought they had no cash now so have to stick with him or hope he decides to walk away

Has Allardyce started his media campaign yet? I hope so.

Hodgson won't take it, rumour is his move to Liverpool is pretty much signed, sealed and delivered.

One or two people have said there is an outside chance of Mourinho being tempted away from accepting Madrid due to the size of the salary.

Yeah, I'm thinking of going to Milan too. I wonder if my boss will pay me an extra £million or 2.

But you had seen our qualifying campaign, right?

Also, he does speak English, he's just (reasonably, IMO) wary of misspeaking to a rabid, nit-picky, obsessive press.

I bet it was his agent who put out the Inter Milan rumour ;)

Yep, that's just how inept the FA are. Tbh, Capello has the air of someone who doesn't really give a shit. Probably doesn't want the job til 2012 anyway, just waiting for them to fire him.

But you had seen our qualifying campaign, right?
Flattered to deceive, again - in a not particularly difficult group.

England haven't beaten one of the top teams in a competitive match for a long time now (I don't consider Croatia a top side) and apart from that friendly win in Germany a while back they haven't beaten anyone decent for ages. Unless you include beating Mexico and Japan in those recent friendlies, but I think either of them could have beaten England in a competitive game.
