F1 2024

It has been a perfect weekend for Max so far and I expect him to win today's race as well without much trouble.
The McLarens showed in the sprint race they have the pace to challenge, and in previous Grand Prix their advantage versus the red bull has tended to increase at the end of longer stints when the problems Max has with front grip accumulated into tyre degradation.

I expect (hope mainly) Norris can find a way past Max later in the race. Could easily be wrong though.

Late change to Austrian Grand Prix starting grid

Zhou Guanyu will start this afternoon's Austrian Grand Prix from the pit-lane after Stake broke parc ferme rules. The Chinese racer had qualified in 20th place for the 71-lap race, and with this in mind, the team has elected to break parc ferme to make set-up changes to his C44 machine. Zhou had finished the sprint race in last place as a poor run of form continues as he tries to find a seat to continue in F1 next season, as he looks very likely to lose his Stake seat.

The rest of the grid remains unchanged

Tsunoda fined $40,000 for calling Zhou Guanyu a fucking retard. Statement “During Q1 when car 22 was queuing in the fast lane and another car blended into the fast lane ahead of him, the driver was heard to make a statement over team radio using offensive language. During the hearing the driver was very apologetic and explained that because English is not his first language he was unaware until after the session what the meaning of the words used is in the English language. He said that he was horrified when he learned this. He contended that his understanding of the words was different, but acknowledged that this should not be considered as an excuse for what he did. The stewards appreciate the honesty of the driver, but reinforce the fact the words used are offensive and wholly inappropriate. To have used such words over a platform that is available to the public amounted to misconduct as defined in Article 20 of the International Sporting Code.”

Anthem watch:

Hans Zimmer - no less! - freewheeling on electric guitar. Multi-percussionists. Like Mozart on acid. Stirring stuff. Gets the obergefreiters' toes a-tappin'.

6/10 for sheer chutzpah.
