Essential Trump/Alt-Right Ridicule Thread

Noem has noted before Trump's "dream" to have his face on Mount Rushmore, the Coolidge-era sculpture that features the 60-foot-tall faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

According to a 2018 interview with Noem, the two struck up a conversation about the sculpture in the Oval Office during their first meeting, where she initially thought he was joking. "I started laughing," she said. "He wasn't laughing, so he was totally serious."

"He said, 'Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand, and so I shook his hand, and I said, 'Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.' And he goes, 'Do you know it's my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?'"

Trump also toyed with the idea of adding himself to Mount Rushmore in 2017 at a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio.

Now he is in the shit for reopening his trousers.

that was some photo that.... good to see the wheels finally coming off, he's been at this sh*t for years + was deffo in danger of damaging the Liberty uni / wider Evangelical grift, needed his wings clipped

Wtf, some people have some funny ideas about what's offensive and what isn't. Undoing your trousers in 'I'm pregnant too' gag is hardly 'racy'.

not sure where you got the ' offensive' idea from ? Think it's more to do with v high profile ' devout Church leader' in vaguely racy photo, on yacht, with lady, drink in hand, during a pandemic yada yada.... Falwell's sailed too close to the wind for a long time - his own net worth is estimated $100m, Liberty Uni holds $3bn + in assets, f*ck knows what the US Evangelical - Industrial complex as a whole is worth = the big dawgs deffo ain't having him repeatedly undermining the ( pretty fragile, long term ) operation with this kinda of carry on, you'd guess

I think its more the blatant hypocrisy involved. The same behavior, if it were a student, could result in disciplinary action. Liberty University has some really odd rules for student behavior. At one time interracial dating was prohibited. They changed that so they wouldn't run afoul of government grant rules (it always comes down to money).

i'm not an evangelical, have no use for evangelicalism, and can't think like an evangelical, which is why this article was of use to me.

Wow. I hadn't heard of evangelical higher education. I'm waaaaay more shocked by that than at a silly pregnancy joke your dad might do. I feel quite naive.

It was the BBC article that seemed to be hinting that the photo was offensive. Probably because it was rather coyly not telling the whole story about what an evangelical education looks like. It would have made more sense if they'd given it a flavour of the horrible judgement and nonsensical creationist bollocks and oppression that are no doubt suffered by its student body. Christ knows what else goes on underground there but I bet it's not nice.

"As of today, who will you vote for in 2020?

  • President Trump
  • A Socialist Fraud
When I completed the survey, I was directed to a page asking me to donate between $42 and $2,800. "

Not that stupid a move tactically tbh. Not aimed at Trump’s own supporters, but to try and get Biden to denounce socialism and then increase the gap between him and younger more activist population that is already biting it’s tongue.

If everyone to the left of Trump votes against trump he’s completely sunk, so they need to chisel off some support from Biden’s other flank.

The most insidious element of Evangelical higher education is that it was created with the idea of "taking back America for Christ." Basically, what they want is to create a "Christian" version of the Taliban in their own image.

Evangelical higher education is absolutely huge in the USA

Places like Liberty are very much about grooming people for political office and positions of influence - they do a lot of debating contests and stuff like that, give people the tools to win arguments and defend Christ.
