Hmm. There seem to be shedloads of articles on right wing sites slating the 17 year old, Alan Vargas, who sent the tweet below, saying he's a left-wing internet bully and La Liberte just a nice, ordinary mom and grandma who's been vilified for no reason.
Joseph Luevanos, the 14 year old boy in the picture, confirms that someone did call him a "Dirty Mexican," but it wasn't this woman. The Tweet doesn't actually say that it was her that said it.
However, it's clear from the photo that she is shouting at the top of her lung's in the lad's face, whatever it is she's saying and that's disgraceful in my book. Neither the Fox news report or any of the other blogs have an explanation for why she was shouting at the boy, like we're supposed to just accept that it's okay. We don't know what the white girl was shouting at the Black girl in the famous photo documenting Southern school integration. It's the fact she felt entitled to howl at the Black girl that makes it wrong, just as the photo of La Liberte and Luevanos is wrong.
La Liberte isn't quite the ordinary apple pie mom and grandma she makes out to be. Behind her in the black jacket and red dress filming on her phone is Genevieve Peters who with La Liberte are leading members of the Family America Project, which describes its mission as "Uniting America's Pro Trump, America First Patriots and Groups nationwide, creating organized, powerful and effective Strike Forces in each state." FAP (ha!) is part of the anti-immigrant hate group (so cited by Southern Poverty Law Centre), the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
La Liberte and Peters travel around together to public meetings about Sanctuary and shout at and intimidate people who support Sanctuary. This article tells more, and mentions Peters. Racism rampant at California city council meetings on sanctuary policies.
This post is from Joseph Luevano's mother. She was trying to stop Peters from filming her son during his "exchange" with La Liberte.
