England vs USA

Yep, maybe it was route one. But at least there was a route.
and one which the defence of every other serious contender - spain, brazil, Portugal, Ivory coast, france, Italy, germany etc - will see coming a mile off, and snuff out without any problems

It was okay in the circs, but I'll be a lot happier with the almost fit Gareth Barry - and then presumably Joe Cole - to bring balance.

Looks like Gerrard ahead of Lampard for now and, after that performance, I can't begrudge Heskey the start though I think Crouch does the same job but has a broader skill set.

Terry seems happy to play with Ledley so fingers crossed it's just a niggle, otherwise we're pretty fucked.

Taking shape, injuries and fitness permitting. Probably a good thing the next couple of games are what they are.

Apart from the comedy error goal I thought England played reasonably well and were unfortunate not to win. Just read this thread and many people on Urban don't seem to have been watching the same match.

This.
It was a good game of football - Everyone in the place I was in thought so too.

How was it a good game of football? There was loads of sloppy passing, massive bits of the game where absolutly nothing at all happened. Rooney was non-existant, as was Gerrard after he scored. It was a frustrating game to watch, there was NO passion at all. It was like a sunday kick about in the park. Absolutley shite IMO. If we carry on like this, there's no hope at all of moving on to the next round.

Do they not do penalties until the quarters?

Would be a sad loss of a tradition were England not to go out on penalties.

I think we played well but not well enough to put the shits up any of the teams we have to beat. USA aren't a bad team but they're not great either, a top class team would've done us last night and no mistake.

But, But ...

The country is fooball crazy ..

We invented the game ..

We have a vastly rich premier league ..

Why is our national side not better than it is!! ???

The country is barely football tolerant compared to football crazy nations like Brazil, Argentina, or Italy.

We didn't invent the game. We imposed our rules on everyone else's versions of the game, and then claimed to have invented the game itself.

We have the second or third best club league in the world, though possibly currently the second wealthiest it's also arguably a contender for most debt ridden.

Our national team is generally amongst the top ten in the world, just as one would expect given the size of our population.

Incidentally, at what levels are we currently European Champions?

Calm down dear. 3 games.

I think the most worrying thing for me was that King was injured. I mean - who could possibly have predicted that? Apart from me and the rest of the country.

Terry is a slow donkey as it is, Carragher or Upson aren't much quicker.

Green's mistake was just one of those things, the complete lack of pace and agility in central defence is a bit more worrying.

Why are you such a self-hater?

Sorry, not being a 'hardcore' football fan, I guess i just don't understand this rather odd brand of pesamistic dick waving that seems manditory to engage in no matter what happens on the pitch.
Quite glad about it to.
Oh, and go for it , I know that I must be sneered at now - it's fine.
:)

It was like a trip back to the 70s, England were utterly shit (apart from Gerrard). It's a kind of perverse pride.

I'm calm :D Just a little bit pissed off at the complete lackluster attempt to play a game of football. 2 players on the pitch actually looked up for it. (Johnson and Lennon) the rest were daudling around with their hands in their pockets flicking bogies at eachother. This is the world cup, if they can't get fired up about the biggest games of their careers, then they can al fuck off home. i want blood, sweat and tears. I want these little overpaid cunts to run themselves into the ground and at least look as if their grateful for the massively overprivelaged life they lead.

How am I dick waving? It was a shit game, pure and simple. I'm not the one who's trying to pollish a turd :D Nice try and stuff, but credit where it's due. And they deserve no credit at all for last nights game. None.

How many England flags do you have on your house? :D

(I have 1 and my neighbour has 1, it's a semi so it looks like I have 2)
